THERE WAS AN ANOMALY IN THE DATA...As they looked into it, its importance and mystery grew. NASA used the Talbot Bridge Device - a wormhole generator - to send probes out to survey potential human colony planets. Results from one planet were strange. The more they looked into it, the weirder it was. Ultimately, someone was going to have to go out and look. Michael Talbot, his brother Matthew, and their wives were the natural choice. What they found when they got there wasn't what anybody was expecting. And supervising the whole thing is Arnie, the AI Michael Talbot fought a dozen years before.
Rich Weyand is a computer consultant and digital forensic analyst. He was born in Illinois and lived there almost 60 years before he and his wife engineered an escape to the hills of southern Indiana in 2011. His undergraduate and graduate education is in Physics, and he's never really recovered. He is currently heading up the launch of a computer software start-up.
This was a good story. If you like a lot of heavy drama, or minute to minute action, then you may not like this book. However if you like a well told yarn, SF or anything else, then you'll probably like this one. There is some mystery and drama but it doesn't tire you out reading it. The story does keep the reader interested, and enjoying the read. There were a couple spots where the story drug a bit, but they were short. I find myself hoping there is a Talbot Book 3. Book 2 doesn't leave the reader hanging, but wanting the story to continue.
Talbot was just "readable" - this one was captivating. Author still repeats a few things a few too many times, and there's plenty of... Unlikely coincidences... But this is extremely engrossing. Not only left me anxious to get to the next chapter, but anxiously awaiting the next book!
This story of a family helping mankind become interstellar was a very interesting entertaining read. I really enjoyed the idea of using balloons for the first 30 miles to get to space. Great Story
Great read with interesting characters. Aliens were very interesting, and I wanted a more in depth description of their history and culture. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Excellent second book in the series. Keeps the development going in logical and plausible ways, while opening a new frontier for the story. I'm ready for book 3! (hint hint)
The series took me by surprise, I normally know within a chapter or two and what direction of book will take me but this one looped around and wonderful ways and took me on a journey that I really enjoyed thank you so much.
