Author Colleen B. MacFarlane has crafted a thought provoking and educational collection of word search puzzles. With 150 puzzles compiled in alphabetical order these searches range from sports teams, to decades, gems, personality traits, and so much more.
My husband and I like to start, or end, our day with a little brain exercise. Often this takes the form of Bananagrams, sudoku or word find games. We challenge one another, time ourselves, or just wind down from a busy day. Colleen’s book of word puzzles is the perfect compliment to our fun, habitual daily recovery together. “Mesmerizing Word Search Puzzles” had searches taking me anywhere from five minutes to fifteen. Readers are sure to learn while exercising their thought muscles with these well-designed puzzles.
Some of my favorites included Horse Hockey, where I learned words such as balderdash, drivel, and hogwash. As well as other puzzles like Practical Jokes and Women & Investing. The word banks of these puzzles taught me words, reinforced research, and reminded me of words I don’t commonly use. For instance, the Women & Investing puzzle word bank included “AVOIDHIGHFEES,” “GENDERPAYGAP,” and “LESSCONFIDENT” all things that research finds to be factual and gender specific, a topic I find near and dear to my own heart. The Practical Jokes puzzle was a fun and entertaining reminder of related words such as prank, rib, shenanigan, hoax, and jokester, all great scrabble words that I can store for later games.

Fun word search with a huge variety of topics. I liked that the pages are large enough to hold open. I haven't finished all of the puzzles yet, but I look forward to picking it up again when I need some entertainment.
