I always like Harvey and Reggie. It's the appeal of an ordinary guy changing the world with the help of his friends. The book reads quick. At times the writing seems a bit mundane, but I think that lends to the feel of Harvey being human. He's fallible and loses his temper. He makes mistakes and figures it out. This story was better than the previous book. The slime mold is getting a little old, but I'm glad we might be returning to the conspiracies that involved the team in older books. Read it and enjoy.
Loved the plot line Andy as usual Nick Thacker has tied the ends up neatly. This can be read as a stand alone book, however you are cheating yourself if you don't read the other books in the series. The ending hints of the next book in the series, but don't be fooled as the CSO team always turns a simple mission into a convoluted chase to get where they need to get before the world goes to heck in a hand basket. Never a dull moment.
I read for a break from reality. But I like my books to suggest the impossible in a realistic way. I almost made this a four star review because the author could have fine tuned this one more. However, it kept me entertained for a few hours keeping the current pain and discomfort of life at bay for a while, so it accomplished it’s purpose.
Once again Nick puts out a page turning Harvey Bennett thriller. I have read the entire Harvey Bennett series and once you think it will be nearing its end it doesn’t. I can’t wait to see where it goes from here. If you enjoy thriller novels this is a very enjoyable series.
I’ve read almost all the books in the series and have enjoyed them all. But, at the beginning of this one, I thought there was a little bit too much of how much Ben is centered on himself and likes to have others wait on him. he may be a good guy, but you have to wonder when he’s ever going to grow up and do his share of taking care of things and sharing chores with Julie.
It’s not the type of book I usually read but I found it to be a page turner. I devoured it until the end. Then it became a cliff hanger. Would have given it more stars except for the end disappointment.
Another great Harvey Bennett novel. Rivetting and worthy of the reading time. Character development is great. Some authors spend half the book telling a backstory, if anything Thacker doesn’t give you enough. I was straining to remember the last book.
A military base which is hardly a speck on the map may hide the biggest danger to the free world. Now he has found out about it and he will need a team to stop it ruining others against Russia. Can he stop it? How can he do it? See just what is going to happen next
This story is a continuation of the previous book. Highly recommend that you read it first, otherwise you won’t have a clue what slime is. Always a cliffhanger with a surprising ending.
This book felt like the first movie in a two movie conclusion to a series, an almost waste of time. I have really enjoyed the Harvey Bennett series as a whole, but this book fell short. Hopefully the next one is better.
Once again, this series delivers. I am a little tired of the slime mold, but I trust that loose end will be tied up soon. Great character development. Plenty of action.
Being chased by some killers when the job is suppose to be in and out. Mercenaries make it more difficult. In this read they spend more time running from them than getting the job done.
Have a tissue handy and set aside two days (or be prepared to stay up WAY past bedtime) for this compelling, action-packed quest to prevent an apocalypse.
The Russian Betrayal - a review by Rosemary Kenny.
Harvey 'Ben' Bennett and the rest of the CSO team - Ember, Zack, Donovan, Julie and Reggie - are catapulted headlong into extreme danger, as the slime mould Zack developed for good, has been mutated, and is headed into the cold depths of Russia, en route to an evil Faction, who'll create global disaster for their own ends. With multiple assassins on their trail - in scenes that could be straight from a James Bond movie - and a 'mission impossible' to complete. Can Ben and all his friends survive such foes?
Nick Thacker never takes his foot off the pedal of the 'runaway train to adventure,' as the mysterious Mr E. spells out another global mission for the CSI Team. Find out what it's all about in The Russian Betrayal, by getting your hands on a copy today!
