Bolland's art is terrific, of course --- some of the greatest created in the comics medium, but this presentation is all over the map in terms of quality. Also, Bolland's work I simply too detailed for an edition of this size
My biggest gripe about many of these "artist editions" is that they present the art in the current form, rather than restoring it to the quality it was when it came off the drawing boards. Imagine if you will that the curator of the Metropolitan Museum found a cache of paintings that hadn't been seen in recent years in a hoarder's attic. Would he photograph and exhibit them as is? Or, rather would they be cleaned up and presented to the public in the best possible light that the artist intended. Rhetorical question.
Given the editors and publishers involved, I don't think I can win this argument --- but I stand by it. It's laborious of course, but the technology is readily available to clean these treasures in digital form prior to publishing.

I think i have the apex version of this book which is a larger version. it's lovely seeing all the intricate details in Bolland's art including the tippexed parts. it's a coffee table book but way too big for a coffee table.
