The future of Dune House is on the line when a new development is approved in the small beachside town. The residents are up in arms and Suzie and Mary are right in the middle of the protests.
Then things become a whole lot more complicated when someone who supports the project is murdered. Suzie and Mary put on their sleuthing hats to get to the truth. But the stakes become even higher when an out-of-town detective is brought in to lead the case. Not only is he determined to nab the killer, but Suzie is a prime suspect.
It’s a race against time to dig through a mountain of clues and suspects and get to the truth before the detective puts the wrong person behind bars.
Join Suzie, Mary, and Pilot for a heartwarming, fun, fast-paced, cozy mystery by USA Today and Wall Street Journal Bestselling Author Cindy Bell that will keep you guessing until the end.
Suzie & Mary are worried about a hotel project being built on the Beach near Dune House. The businessman, Albert Yardley, has manipulated Clyde Wellers, the new town manager, to let him "buy the beach". An environmental group is protesting the hotel building. Even Summer, Mary, & Suzie are joining the protesters. Wes & Paul join them. Wes wants Albert to listen to the protesters & he goes to knock on Alberta's door. When he turns the knob & opens the door, he finds Alberta's body. When Wes tells Jason, Mary, Suzie, & Paul, they go in the office to see what they can do to help. The mayor calls Jason, who is now Police Chief, to inform him Deputy Ned Wilkerson. Wes has worked with him before & tell them " You might as well mark this murder as unsolved. That man is too distracted by his own reflection to do any real investigative work." Unfortunately, Ned is walking up & hears what he says. He is rude & hateful to Wes, Jason, Summer, Suzie, Paul, & Mary & tells them to leave the crime scene because they are all his prime suspects! What a jerk! This is a great book & despite Ned's attitude, Mary & Suzie still manage to find clues since the townspeople aren't very cooperative with Ned & his attitude!
This book was great, for several reasons! It had mystery, loyal friends, and a quest for the truth. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and trying to figure everything out! Toward the end, I was able to do that! There are an awful lot of people to think about and to try and answer all the questions I had. I'm so glad to have started at the beginning of Suzie and Mary's latest adventures and am looking forward to the next book (#29) of the Dune House Mystery Series!
