This is my toddler's favorite bedtime book and has actually helped a lot in getting him to go to bed without as much of a fight. We read it before he goes to bed and talk about what's happening and point out how he's doing the same things to get ready for bed that are in the book. Doing this has seemed to help him calm down at bedtime and be more accepting of going to bed. It's a great bedtime book!
I really like the novel approach of this book, to incorporate some of the science of sleep in addition to the routine. The artwork is soft and sweet, and the the asterisked fun facts provide an opportunity to go deeper after a few reads. It's probably good to introduce nightmares along with dreams, but it might be a new concept to little ones and possibly a source of worry.
I really liked this book! Not only does it depict a calm bedtime routine, but it explains why our bodies need sleep, why we dream, and how some of my favorite animals like to sleep.
