This was a book I'd heard of about a while ago, and only just got around to reading.

One thing I'm used to with being a Christian is just getting challenging questions from people who aren't believers, more than "how can you believe that?" but probing ones like "why is there so much suffering?" and other assumptions about Christianity that are often wrong.

I could tell from reading this that Roger Carswell is very knowledgeable about Christianity, and is used to being asked difficult questions, and is ready for anything. I noticed, not surprisingly, that he is quite critical of Richard Dawkins and his arguments.

The book is set out quite well, by subjects, so there are sections on subjects like morality and suffering, as well as the reliability of the Bible as a historical account. I was surprised at some things I read; for example, when answering the question of whether anyone is too bad to go to Heaven, Carswell's answers included a statement that not even suicide is unforgiveable (reading the book, knowing someone who recently committed suicide, this was somewhat reasssuring). The book even gives a few examples of suicides in the Bible, including that of Samson in the Old Testament. The short answer is that no one is too bad for Heaven.

This is a good book for committed Christians to know how to answer difficult questions, but also a good one for people who aren't Christian yet, as a guide to what the Bible is and is not about.

A good introductory book to apologetics. This work covers an array of topics and gives short answers to some difficult questions. Better for the answerer than the questioner, but helpful nonetheless.
