SHE CAN RUN...

Four years after a brutal attack, Willow Townsend remains in a constant spiral of terror, panic, and closed walls, despite the help of her psychiatrist boyfriend, Carlton. Determined things must change she rents a tiny, isolated cottage in the Scottish Highlands. Alone. Somewhere she can hide, somewhere she can begin to heal... somewhere she can feel safe.

But Ivy Cottage hides secrets of its own, and its gruesome past is just as terrifying. Isolated and cold; wind whispers through the rooms, strange messages appear on mirrors and windows, and dark shadows huddle in the hallway where chilling noises emerge from the empty cupboard. When a dark figure is glimpsed in the hallway, Willow begins to doubt her sanity.

Terrified and trapped, Willow must face the demons that hide in the walls, and face her own demons head on, as Ivy Cottage's terrifying secrets begin to expose themselves, and Willow's harrowing past rushes to meet her... for her attacker is out of jail. He is seething, single-minded, and is determined that she pay for what she did. The only currency he wants is her life, and he is determined to take it - whatever the cost.

Safety is the only thing Willow needs, but Ivy Cottage has never been safe. Death is never far away, and it's walls seem to be destined to be splattered with fresh blood.

About the author

Rebecca Guy

6 books6 followers
Rebecca Guy was first introduced to all things paranormal at the tender age of ten when she received Hans Holzer's Ghosts – True Encounters with the World Beyond from Father Christmas. She tortured herself with the stories late into every night, after which she was too terrified to sleep.

Thanks Santa.

The trauma started a love affair with all things horror and supernatural and she now likes to write her own novels to torture herself and others with until they can't sleep. After all, sharing is caring.

Rebecca was born and raised in Staffordshire. She still lives there with her three children and a Beagle called Rosie.

Another great book by Rebecca!
Crime mixed in with horror and romance a plenty, plenty of creepy and sinister scenes - thoroughly enjoyable read!

On Amazon this book is described as a spine-tingling ghost thriller.
The typos and spelling errors were indeed spine-tingling (fall fowl(?) of the law, principle instead of principal, proper names not capitalised, wierdos instead of weirdos, etc etc etc as King Mongkut would say). Usually I don't mind a typo or two, but there were just too many and it made me cranky.
If a non native speaker like myself notice this many, there are probably a lot more to be found.

The story itself is slow to start and repetitive in the beginning. It is well thought out, the characters are realistic and likeable (except for Carlton and Coop of course). The supernatural aspect is just not scary at all, though I have to admit I do not scare easily.
I guess that if the book hadn't been described as spine tingling and chilling, I would have liked it a lot better, it just didn't meet my expectations.

Plot a bit the same as previous novel "Lost" (traumatised main character pursued by crazed extended family member with their partner being in the psychiatric field)
However, still a good read. Hoping the next novel "The Rectory" brings something new.

Very atmospheric and kept me guessing every step of the was. A story that draws you in then makes you jump. I loved it.
