In this fourth volume of The Continuing Chronicles of Sherlock Holmes, Holmes and Watson are visited at Baker Street by an academic who claims his school's most treasured secret possession, no less than the mummified head of the Lord Protector of England, Oliver Cromwell, has been stolen from his office. As Holmes' investigation takes him from the streets of London, to the rolling downs of Suffolk, to the thriving holiday town of Brighton read along as the world's greatest consulting detective attempts to pierce the mystery of how, when, and by whom England's most long-sought human artifact was taken.
Holmes has returned from holiday in Italy frustrated that his trip was so boring. However not long after his return he receives a telegram from a master at a private boys school. When he arrives he tells Holmes his story of having a rare artifact stolen. Holmes takes Watson along and journeys to the school in disguise. From there the mystery deepens with lots of surprising twists and turns and a surprise ending. A very enjoyable read.
