A history of my family's life and journey from Jevnaker, Norway into remote, rugged western North Dakota. Included is a history of the beautiful nation of Norway; Genealogy research and stories 4-5 back from my own; and stories of my family's life as pioneer farmers in McKenzie County, North Dakota. My great-grandparents, Magnus and Gina Wahus, met and fell in love with the stunning prairies of North Dakota in the background. They were pillars of their community of Charlson. They were church founders, farmers, progressive thinkers during the Great Depression, and parents of nine wonderful children. The details of my family's emigration from the Hadeland district in Norway are a highlight of the book. After his emigration, Magnus met Gina, the daughter of two Norwegian immigrants who were original settlers to Dakota Territory. They led an amazing life together. If one reader realizes the amazing strength, determination, grit, and hardships that my great-grandparents endured out on the North Dakota prairie, then it was worth my effort writing it. My research partner, Terje Olsen, who lives in Baerum, Norway served as my geneaology researcher, guide and editor.
