Christmas For One was originally titled Sex With Strangers and I had previously read and reviewed it. It's been reissued under this new title and cover and it has been updated with additional scenes and an epilogue but the original title Sex With Strangers is definitely woven throughout the story. So of course, I had to read it to find out what's been updated and it didn't disappoint. The epilogue gave nice closure and a happily ever after but the ending seemed rushed getting there.
At times playful and other times very steamy, Christmas For One was an interesting read. It's set in New York City in 2005 and puts a whole different spin on living in the city. Ruby, a divorcee with a teenage daughter, is trying to figure out how to get back in the dating game, or is she? After being dumped for a much younger model by her husband of twenty years, who sounds pretty uptight whenever he's mentioned, her life is turned upside down. Her best friend, Chanel, becomes her life coach and she definitely has some unique perspectives on getting Ruby back in the saddle. Can anyone say, embarrassing? Chanel is definitely an x-rated life coach if only to get her best friend back in the dating game and more!
When Ruby decides to take some of Chanel's life tips but not others she definitely turns her life upside down in more ways than one and puts herself in some interesting situations, both in real life and her fantasy world. There are steamy between the sheets moments and elsewhere even if most of them are only in Ruby and Chanel's imagination! I liked Ruby and her daughter but Chanel, not so much. She was definitely over the top throughout and I cringed at some of her suggestions. Fergus, as Ruby's potential love interest, was a nice addition but definitely has his secrets. Her boss, Matt, leaves a lot to be desired with his words and actions especially in the current world we live in.
There are lots of twists and turns and an unexpected happily ever after especially with the epilogue. I liked the cover and loved the titles for each chapter which gave a hint of what was to come.
Ms. Mathews often takes me out of my comfort zone but her books always have heart and lots of romance. She gives a depth to her characters as we get to know them a little at a time. In this story, people are not always as they seem!

I absolutely loved this awesome book. Ruby’s life coach is an interesting character, I loved what she came up with to help Ruby out. Ruby turned it all into her own and I loved what she did to help herself. This book has some laugh out loud moments, I loved every one of them. The characters are likable and so full of life, even when things seem down, they turn it into their favor. I was glued to the pages from start to finish, with this feel good story.

Ruby thought she had a forever marriage until her husband dumps her by text for a younger model. Her friend, who's a lifestyle coach, decides to help her start a new life. However, Ruby doesn't follow her friend's guidelines and does things her way. Things were going well until Ruby met someone special. Is this the start of a new life or will her new world implode?

When Ruby is traded by her husband for a younger woman her world upends. Her friend who happens to be a life coach comes to her aid, but Ruby does things her way. Will her endeavors lead her to a new beginning that will lead to happiness. This story kept me glued to the pages and cheering for Ruby as she starts her journey to happiness.

I really tried to like it but it just didn’t happen. The most distracting part of the book is the fact that it takes place in New York and the author uses British spellings and language which would be fine if the characters were from England or elsewhere but no…they are supposed to be native New Yorkers. I just wanted a nice Christmas romance but this one did not hit the mark for me.

It's Love this book. It has Wonderful Characters, it was Witty, funny, Romantic, so Entertaining, steamy at times, page turner and a Happy ever after. . I couldn't put this book down. I was Honestly, surprise , I enjoy this book. I thought it was going to be another Romance book, but it wasn't. Its about , A Divorce women, getting back out there, after her husband, left her for an younger woman. a must Read!!
