This book has been used for many years by those who want to have unbiased, usable information on both sides of the magical spectrum. It contains explicit instruction on how to use the roots, oils, powders, candles, herbs, and incenses common to magical spells and practices. It also includes many rituals and charms useful in a troubled life. A paperback 64 page booklet.
I took a step back in time and read this short read from the notebooks of Marie Laveau. In it I found how Marie was not just a priestess who cast spells and curses and made voodoo dolls but a mother figure/therapist who guided many of her "children" through life's ups and downs with spiritual encouragement, sage advice, and yes, rituals using candles, incense, and oils carefully prescribed to help those in need of an uplift stop worrying and build faith.
I also enjoyed the candle index that provided candle colors and what they are best used for, and the horoscope description in the back.
It's pretty good for what it is--a small book of traditional and practical magic workings expressed as exchanges between a Petitioner and The Man God, who instructs the querent (and so the reader) how to perform various rituals for down-to-earth aims. They are fairly straightforward procedures that utilize many "name brand" incenses and oils one can obtain from old-fashioned occult shops and mail order suppliers. If you want a good look into American Hoodoo magic, this booklet is a fine place to start.
