First line
"The long and winding road stretched out, all hazy in the heat. Two friends sat down with weary frowns and dusty, tired feet."

"They killed the man who healed the sick...Now all was LOST! That brutal cross- it made no sense at all"

BUT just as those two travelers are feeling down and defeated, numb and confused, came JESUS to share the GOOD NEWS.

I'm going to be honest. I wanted to scream and shout with them when I read the line "Their traveller friend who'd walked with them was JESUS ALL ALONG!"

I cannot express to you how much I love this book. The illustrations are delightful and the prose is lovely but combine the two and you have a powerful resource to retell "The Road to Emmaus from Luke 24" and share the Gospel with your children.

"And so for you, when you believe in Jesus, Lord and King, you'll find that deep inside your greatest joy is Him."

I was gifted a copy of this book by the publisher in exchange of an honest review. The above is my honest opinion.

Your children have heard about Jesus’ death on the cross, and they know that He rose from the dead three days later. But do they know what Jesus did after that?

With lovely illustrations and joyful rhymes, this book tells about Cleopas and his friend as they traveled to Emmaus on the day of Jesus’ resurrection. A stranger joins them for the journey, and they eventually realize that He is Jesus Himself.

After reading this book as a family, I personally read the account in Luke 24, and the book stays close to Scripture.

The rhymes are thoughtful and fun to read (I’m a sucker for internal rhyme), and the illustrations are pleasing as well (note that there are illustrations of Christ).

The book clearly explains that Jesus died and rose again so that we can have eternal life through Him.

I am confident that we will revisit this book often, especially at Easter as we discuss Jesus’ death and resurrection.

“The story doesn’t end with them, for Jesus lives today!” -Sam Brewster

I absolutely love this new release! This book tells children the story of Jesus meeting the travellers on the road to Emmaus. The travellers go from sad to glad as they walk with Jesus and ultimately realize that their risen Savior has been with them the whole way.

The best part about this book is that it does a beautiful job showing how Jesus fulfills the Old Testament prophecies.

This book reads beautifully. The lyrical writing flows so well. And, of course, the illustrations are gorgeous!

I highly recommend this title! With Easter coming closer, this would be a great book to keep in mind for Easter baskets.

In The Friends and the Traveller, Sam Brewster shares a rhyming retelling of the road to Emmaus. This is one of my favorite Easter stories, and I’m glad I get to share it with my kids! With delightful illustrations by Hannah Green, this book tells how Jesus revealed himself to the two friends on the road to Emmaus in a captivating way.

From Sadness to Joy

I felt the excitement as the friends learned more about how Jesus fulfilled God’s promises and how he was walking alongside them. Even though the friends start out being sad, their tears are wiped away and their eyes are opened to see the resurrected Lord. This book will draw your children into the joy of discovering Jesus!

Another great Christian kids book! I love that it tells a story that is not normally ever in children's Bibles. Both my 4-year-old and my 6-year-old didn't know the story at all, and it was fun to see them guessing that the traveler was Jesus. The story rhymes throughout the whole thing, and it gives a great overview of how Jesus is all throughout the Old Testament, and relevant to our lives even now.
It's quite long, so recommended for age 6 at the youngest.

This new picture book tells the story of the road to Emmaus when Jesus’ disciples were walking with Him and didn’t even recognize Him. My kids and I have read this together several times already and it will be a new Easter favorite.
