An exhilarating journey of survival and unity that had me hooked from the very first page. The story follows Sol, a young leader who must navigate the treacherous waters of leadership and diplomacy while searching for a new home for her tribe and two others. Dodson's vivid storytelling brought these characters to life, making their struggles and triumphs feel incredibly real. I was swept away by the gripping conflicts and unexpected challenges that kept me eagerly turning the pages. The way Sol's character evolves throughout the book is truly inspiring, and the underlying message of unity and resilience is beautifully woven into the narrative.

Spoliers Alert:
Search for a new home is the 2nd book in the archmage series, which is fast becoming my favorite series of the year. In this installment, we continue to follow Sol, Robin, & Creasy as they navigate the trials of living on the ocean while searching for a new place to call home. It is pertinent that everyone learn to get along & cooperate despite their differences. Since the tragedy of the other ship and the loss of her parents Sol has had to mature & become the leader she was always meant to be. I can't wait to read the next installment. Thank you so much, Mr. Dodson for allowing this epic adventure into the world.

From the moment I started reading, I was hooked by the thrilling tale of Sol and her journey to lead her tribe to a new home. Dodson's writing is so engaging and down-to-earth that it felt like I was right there beside Sol, facing all the challenges and obstacles with her. This story is not just about survival, but also about the power of friendship, understanding, and unity. It's a heartwarming reminder that even in the toughest times, people can come together to overcome anything. So if you're looking for a captivating adventure filled with heart and hope, don't miss out on Archmage.

While on the way to new land, the kids traverse the hardships of living on the ocean. They encounter dangerous creatures, including a serial killer, having to grow up quickly.
Sol takes on even more of a leadership role in this book, now that the children's parents won't be meeting them on the island. I loved reading thoughts from each character, and the skepticism from Destin, especially. Seeing that not everyone agrees with one another makes this book more realistic and entertaining, creating problems and issues to resolve.
The arc with the serial killer on board was super interesting and added a lot of tension. It led to a heart-wrenching moment that had me almost in tears because it was well done. I enjoyed every moment of this, and can't wait for the next.

its a good read. good pacing and keeps you thinking about who is the culprit. the children only having one adult left from their land and how they react is very genuine and feels real. well rounded characters and the stakes are high- creating some frustration that is entertaining.
