2.3⭐️ This offering is too short and has too much fluffy filler. Consequently, I found very little substance to this story. In such a short story, I wouldn’t expect extensive character development, but a few lines might have sufficed. Moreover, there were errors that should have been found and corrected in such a short piece.
In all, with a few more pages of substantive content and character development, this story may have been entertaining; however, it missed the mark in my opinion.
Although I like books by this author, this one was a bit short and mundane to be honest. I didn't connect to the characters as the story began and ended quite quickly. It was more of a Scotland tourist guide rather than a romance novel. I also couldn't understand how Fraser just ended up apologizing to her without any prior mindset shift because by the end of the second last chapter, we only saw him kind of annoyed (and not really mad or hurt) by Zen's actions (or rather inactions?). The drama was just there for the sake of it and didn't really push the characters to discover new aspects of themselves. It didn't have any point to it. Why was the ex suddenly there at the climax? Why were the other group members introduced to the readers without any prior mention? I have a feeling those might be characters making cameos from the author's previous books (or maybe not?), but to a new reader, that part would confuse the hell out of them. It just threw me off. So, unfortunately, this book wasn't for me at all.

This was a fun quick read for me. The pace was upbeat. From the get go the H and h had chemistry behind closed doors which was an inferno. I liked that time was spent between the characters to get to know each other while getting to know the lands that they were touring together. Two journeys two discoveries they embarked on together.
I liked the portrayal of the scots vernacular and the playful nature between the the H and h and even the H's siblings when they are introduced.
I usually prefer a slow burn, which is hard to achieve in novellas but this was good. It was an enjoyable read about two decent people who went through some struggles. Not too much drama which is a nice escape.

She was left at the altar and now Zen is back to recapture her heart and look inside herself to reflect. Going back to the hotel was a hard decision to make but she did, and it would start her along her path to the future. Meeting Fraser who was mourning the loss of his fiancé. They connect and sparks ignite between them and as they spend time together their relationship blossoms but when she comes across the very man that left her at the altar will it cause a rift between Fraser and Zen. This story kept me glued to the pages from start to finish.

Zenaida decides to return to Scotland a year after she is left at the alter by her fiancé. When she is there she returns to the small town of Banavie where she meets Fraser who is still grieving from his fiancé death from three years prior. Can these two do some soul healing together or will they past keep them from giving love another chance. I guess that you have to find out by reading Soul Searching in Scotland by Shyla Colt.

Loves lost and betrayal had Fraser and Zen (Zenaida) on a path that lead straight to each other. I felt for both of them because grief of any kind is tough; and tough to get through. However, they decided to "help" each other get through it in hopes they could both move forward. There were some missteps along the way, but Zen and Fraser were cute and the fun was sexy and sweet. A nice bow tie at the end which made for a cute little read.

This is a perfect bite-sized read to wrap up the end of the year Reading Challenge!
Zenaida Shelton returns to Scotland, a place of heartbreak and pain to take back her power. She's introduced to Fraser Wilson who is nursing a broken heart of love lost through death. Mischievous matchmakers introduce the pair and they embark on a local sight-seeing tour. A well-timed kiss leads to an agreement of one night (IKR), and of course, it's too good for one night and thanks to meddlesome family members—maybe it will be, maybe it won't! 😊Recommended: Read It!
Soul Searching in Scotland is a heartwarming love story that draws you in from the very first page. Zenaida and Fraser's love story is shared through some heavy doses of reality. The storyline and characters are engaging and fun. It is filled with just the right amount of humor, steamy romance, and drama. The scenic landscapes of Scotland draw you in as well and are woven perfectly into the storyline. I absolutely loved this story. It is a feel good heartwarming story.

This was a story of Zen returning to Scotland to have a restart of her first trip that did not end well. All the town's people remember her and wants to help heighten her experience this time around, so here is Fraser entering the picture. Both parties have been burned by love but can the two find something special this time around with each othere and will living in two different countries kill their vibe? Enjoy 🥰.

Shyla Colt writes short romance novellas that are decent and straight to the point. The heat level is good, as is the character development considering that brevity of her works. I use her books as “palate cleansers” between longer novels. Some of her books are paranormal romances, others, like this one, are contemporary romances. Most (if not all) feature Black women with white men.
perfect for me My heart broke for Zenaida and Fraser, they really deserve to have their broken hearts mended and find happiness, but making a second chance work takes faith and courage. Since I love Scotland the setting was a perfect addition to a wonderful book, I enjoyed every page of it. I received this book as a review copy.
This is a lunch read. The storyline is good, but I felt that Zenaida was to much wanting to just have sex with whoever. Zenaida is returning to Scottland after a year from being jelted there. She meets Fraser and its all sex from there, plus alittle site seeing.

After experiencing heartbreak, they were able to find healing in each other and find their HEA. If Zenaida didn't go back to Scotland to get over being left at the alter, she would have never met Fraser. And Fraser would have never been able to get over the death of his fiance.

Wonderful. I really enjoyed this book. If Zenaida didn't go back to Scotland to get over being left at the alter, she would have never met Fraser. And Fraser would have never been able to get over the death of his fiance. They got their HEA.
The author has given us an emotional story that pulls us into the lives of Zenaida/Zen and Fraser. The story keeps us turning the pages with connection, fears, secrets and steam.

Lovely storyline, short and sweet, great characters 🤗. Love heals when you find your soul ❤️. Grief and left at the altar, two people with broken hearts are setup while they are soul searching. It's a good short bedtime read 😉.
This was a love story about taking a chance on the unknown. It was about stepping out of your comfort zone and embracing second chances and happiness. It was well written and poignant!.

This is a short and quick read about Fraser and Zen. She takes a trip to do a bit of soul searching. Fraser is reeling from his own loss. These two meet and sparks fly and passion ignites. I enjoyed this story and the characters.
It was the cutest short story. Well written, sweet, and spicey. Quick read that was well done. Loved it! Great scenery and story. Cannot wait to read more from the author!
This was a short, sweet, and quick read. It was steamy but not overly so. The characters were perfect for each other. After experiencing heartbreak, they were able to find healing in each other and find their HEA.
Great short romances, I do mean short. But it also was good I love that Fraser had stood up for Zen too. You never know when true love will knock, this is a great romance to read.
Although this is a short book, it packs a lot of punch. Some novellas can be a hit or miss because It doesn't feel like a complete story, but that is not the case in this book. It's perfect if you need a quick and enjoyable read.
