Leather and Lace Volume 1 "The Search For Cindy Wilde" , Barry Blair, Malibu Graphics 1990 Softcover First Printing This is a Brand New Perfect condition never been read..
Barry Blair (b. 1954) was a Canadian artist and writer, known for launching Aircel Comics (publisher of titles such as Samurai, Elflord, Dragonforce, and Men in Black) in the 1980s.
This is so hopelessly stupid and nerdy that it's embarrassing and awkward to read and then gets worse upon reflection.
It's palpably bad. Seriously. I'm physically uneasy with pity for the creator and I cringed at how pathetic the characters and story were. It's highly erotic for the voyeurs out there but even some of sex-play and action scenes make you cringe at times when you imagine witnessing it in person.
I'm abstaining (for now) from tearing the guy apart outside of the story from the glaring hints within it. Everything about this oozes with the creator's issues/hangups and sadly lame fantasies. I don't have the time to waste psychologically profiling the dweeb but he's endlessly ripe and the symptoms from ingesting this are demanding release at his expense.
***PLEASE DON'T PASS THIS ALONG TO HIM HE DOESN'T NEED ME RAGGING ON HIM BECAUSE I DOUBT HE HAS THE SENSE OF HUMOR TO LAUGH AT WHATEVER I'M TOTALLY OFF ON.***
I could go on for a page on his yuppy issues. In short- they were the cool kids that he wanted to hang with as a youth but he didn't fit in because of his awkwardness or whatever dorky stuff he was obsessed with (maybe caused by the former) so when they grew up to be yuppies (successful ones as is their wont) he placed aggressive hate on the whole group instead of a normal non-yup's indifference with or dislikes of some of their attributes. The "all yuppies die" bouncer is clearly his fantasy self.
The only reason that it gets ** is because it's tailored to an audience that probably worships it due to the above similarities and I have to add a star for that success to be fair. Surely, their will response to this from one of them and I can sadly forecast then gist of it.
Riddle me this: What's with the stereotypical racist biker/German nazi-style military hats on so many characters? Were they a niche trend or an attempt at one? They are utterly bizarre for the types of characters who wear them and I doubt it's on purpose.
Female Detective cum sex-romp? Sounds delightful. In actuality? Didn't make it through 30 pages. Inhuman characters with downright weird art overwhelms the potential.
