This book is too cute. It has a curious betta fish family, starting their journey from the pet shop all the way to NASA. From the sea, dessert, sand storm, Joshua trees, armadillos, and snakes! The fish tank rides on the car, then home, and then on a plane. It is informative, fun, and so easy to understand. There are not just learnings about the world but also about being a family. It also highlights the sense of caring and responsibility. The illustrations were beautiful. I enjoyed reading this book right from the start and it has left me curious about the other books in the series. This one is a great fit for young kids. It will certainly leave them mesmerized.
In The Adventures of Arya and Krishna Betta Fish: Desert Oasis, by Gabriel Bietz, readers are reunited with the charming betta fish siblings, Arya and Krishna, along with their parents, Gabe and Amita. Their journey continues alongside their human companions, Amer and Annie, as they navigate a series of unexpected events in the desert. This sequel brings a fresh and exciting perspective to the series, building upon the engaging narrative established in the first book.
The storyline is filled with humor and heartwarming moments, making it a standout in contemporary family adventure fiction. I was captivated by every twist in the plot, finding the blend of Arya and Krishna's cleverness with Gabe's humor and Amita's wisdom particularly compelling. The development of Amer and Annie's characters adds depth to the story, though I missed the more prominent roles of Blake and Sharktooth from the first book.
The encounter with Sam the Snake initially raised concerns for me, but the narrative remained engaging and lighthearted, filled with innocent fun. The inclusion of a scene featuring a young girl on an airplane adds a delightful touch, underscoring the story’s light-hearted nature.
The Adventures of Arya and Krishna Betta Fish: Desert Oasis, suitable for readers aged seven and up, delicately balances minimal fantasy violence and themes of mortality within its cozy and comforting narrative. It's an ideal read for a relaxing winter evening by the fire, offering a blend of gentle action and humor. This engaging family adventure, perfect for those who appreciate a narrative with a sprinkle of whimsy, comes highly recommended and leaves me eagerly anticipating the next installment in the series.
This is a cute story with strong messaging for young readers. I’ve noticed some complaints about the lack of color illustrations. I can understand this decision (color printing is much more expensive than B&W), but when it comes to books for young readers, books are about the “experience” of interacting with the book as much as the story itself. I agree that the supporting images fall a little short for young readers. Overall, there is good character development, with both human and non-human characters, but there were a few instances when I got confused about who was speaking. That said, overall, this is a fun, engaging read that builds in a little suspense along the way.
Lots of fun and educational too. Amer and Annie like to take their fish everywhere with them. One day they take them on a delivery run, only when they're out they blow a tyre. In a sandstorm the fish tank gets left in The Mojave Desert. When danger arrives and the fish are in mortal danger they are saved by two armadillos! The next trip is to visit NASA. As well as an entertaining story the chapters have interesting facts dropped in, like what animals live in the Mojave Desert and why the JFK Center was moved to Florida and why it's position to the equator is important. Better AI illustrations would improve the book.
This is a fantastic continuation of the first part. It continues to throw quirky characters into the mix. I really liked the desert scenes with the armadillos and the snake. I also liked the increased role of the two human characters. I gotta admit that I was surprised where this one ended up. I will say no more on that. I expected this one to perhaps lose a little steam after the first part since that focused on building the characters. It didn’t. The surprising series of adventures saw to that. All around great story.
The book, one of a series with the same characters, takes the siblings on a journey—this time across the Mojave Desert.
The book blends humor, education, and storytelling, and this sequel introduces readers to real-life fish behaviour that gets kids interested in the environment. Short chapters, charming illustrations, and a lively pace make it great for ages 6–12.
A very adventurous book about Arya and Krishna betta fish. So lively and great addition to the first book. Funny and educational. The author did a good job to keep the reader engaged from start to finish. Nice black and white illustrations and fits very well to the story however the different sizes are a hit distracting, but not disturbing
Arya and Krishna Betta fish's desert adventure is a delightful blend of humor and education. Stranded in a harsh desert, they face exciting challenges and make new friends, keeping readers eagerly flipping pages to see how they'll find their way back. A great read!
This is an entertaining and whimsical read perfect for younger kids. The story of two talking fish lost in the desert is full of strange yet funny adventures that keep readers hooked. The humor is light, and the black and white illustrations add to the fun. The book's overall charm and educational value make it a great pick for kids who love imaginative tales.
Arya and Krishna Betta fish with their other fish friends find themselves stranded in a hot desert. Water is scarce. They meet two armadillos who become their friends. The book also includes an extra story towards the end.
These cheeky little fish get up to some capers! Brilliantly written and illustrated childrens book which would be enjoyed by all kids whether they have pet fish or not
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The way the Betta fish traveled around in the tank was delightful! The illustrations were not only fantastic but also added a lot to the overall enjoyment of the book.
This was a charming and educational story, however parts of it were too unrealistic. The drawings were beautifully rendered. This is a great book for children with advanced reading skills.
Absolutely loved reading this book. Kept me intrigued by each pages and made me flipping through each pages. This will be one of my favourite book from now. Loved it.
