The saga of Harper Lansing continues, as she finds herself hiding from The Council of Hunters, or so she thinks. A strange letter has arrived and she sees they haven’t forgotten about her at all. The Council is Led by a new man, Brady Bozeman, cousin to her once adversary, Stacy. He’s moving up the ranks of the Council with vicious brutality and his thirst for power makes him a worthy adversary for Harper.
Stacy is at odds with her family and has come to warn Harper about her cousin's quest to seek and destroy all witches, including Harper. She has another revelation as well. Stacy’s daughter, Madeline, is a witch being held captive by the Council. With the help of some unlikely new friends, Harper goes on a quest to find Madeline and herself along the way.
In this sequel to Hurt, from A Three Part Horror, you’ll find a story woven with the pain of revenge, and a girl's struggle to find herself in a world that wants her eliminated. Harper won’t go easy though. She’s hurt her family for the atrocities they’ve committed, but now, she’ll punish the ones who will try to carry on her grandfather’s legacy. First, she brought the hurt, and now she’ll bring the pain.
I love Harper. She's just such a badass MC. It's not a secret that I adored her story that was included in "Within." I am so thrilled that Stone is expanding her character and her story. Based on the ending of this book, we haven't seen the last from these absolutely kickass ladies ( Harper isn't solo anymore)!
This story, in particular, is a lot of fun. We obviously get to see more from Harper, but we also branch out and learn a bit more about some other Witches and the history. Punish expands the story beyond the "family war" dynamic and focuses more on the larger problem, and is heavy on "witch vs hunter," with the spotlight being on one particularly devious individual.
Potential spoiler: There is a brief tie into another character from "Within," AND we get another type of supernatural being introduced into the story. It definitely has me excited to see what Stone has planned for us!
Overall, this is a quick read that's perfect for lovers of witches. This is being released just in time for Halloween, and it should definitely find its way onto your spooky season TBR.
Also, imagine my surprise to find my name mentioned in the acknowledgements, I had no clue! That was such a wonderful surprise. I will continue to shout loud and proud and recommend this series as well as the OG stories from "Within" to anyone and everyone who will listen.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This story is the continuation of a tale told in a short story collection by the same author titled 'Within' I thoroughly enjoyed the initial story and was really looking forward to seeing where Edmund took Harper on her journey next. I was not disappointed! This was action packed from the off, with great imagery and a fluid narration. With strong female characters, especially the lead character, Harper, this was quite an empowering and exciting read.
This story kicks off 5 years after the first one, when Harper receives a letter, a letter she has seen in her dreams, and it doesnt come bearing good news. She was hoping she had banished her Uncles and her cousins and their whole nasty operation, but it seems that isnt the case, The Hunters are back, and they are stronger than ever! With new technologies to help against any witchery. But Harper is also armed, with lots of magical items to use against them should she need to.
Harper is a witch with a 'gift'. She can heal people, if she wants to, but also, when harmed, she can choose to experience it as a sweet, welcoming release, or to inflict her pain back onto the people causing it, tenfold! This, of course, entices the Hunter's, oh what they could do with that kind of power…..
When an old face from her past shows up with a warning for her, she learns that a whole lot of trouble could be heading her way. She goes on to meet Esmerelda and the rest of The Collective, 'down below', these are her people, and they can help her. A meeting with her father brings eye opening visions of the past, visions that stick with her as she sets off to do battle with The Hunter's, unaware of the trail of destruction that is growing rapidly behind her. First though, she is to learn the ways of the witch through a vision quest!
Along the way she meets Shelley, daughter of one of the Hunter's. Shelley has been conditioned by her father and the rest of them, to hate the witches and all that they stand for, to not trust them. But after meeting Harper for herself, she immediately feels differently, and they are gradually brought closer together through the bloody battles that ensue, and ultimately, after lots of missions and encounters with zombies, ghosts and mythical creatures, to an exciting ending full of revelations and realisations. A haunting and bloody ride, with twists, turns, and dark magic!
Is it the end though, or is Harper and Shelley's journey only just beginning? I for one, am hoping for the latter!
What an amazing sequel!! Edmund Stone did a fantastic job with the continuation of Harper's story, whom we met in Hurt part of the short story collection Within: A Three Part Horror.
Harper is a witch and after all her family was destroyed by the Hunters she thought she was free but how wrong she was.. The Hunters have been busy in the background, concocting horrible ways to annihilate witches with the help of science..
At the head of the Council of Hunters is Brady, evil and deprecabile man who'd do anything to pursue his objectives.. But greed and hubris will sign his demise. Underestimating Harper's powers and tools at her disposal was a mistake..
I love Harper so much and her character is so well defined that my brain doesn't have any problem believing she exists somewhere. I didn't know how much I missed her and her story until I started reading Punish and now I want more!!
I cannot wait for the sequel as there's a hint for a crossover with another short story of the same collection and I'm so eager to see where that leads!
It's not often that sequels live up to the first installment, but this has surpassed my expectations! Full of emotions, action and enough gore, I know you'll fall in love with Harper and Edmund Stone's writing..
Thanks to the author for a copy and this is my honest review.
With 'Punish,' Edmund Stone continues his dark fantasy story of witches and people hunting them. This time round, the hunting is more organized by far, the threats far more serious, and the plot much more intricate. In the centre of it all, there's again Harper, the young witch from "Hurt," the second story of Stone's fine collection 'Within,' well-worth reading for its combination of strong females and their journeys of self-discovery. 'Punish,' unlike the far tamer "Hurt," (but both still with strong YA overtones) is about revenge, mostly, but also has some totally welcome surprises, such as its unexpected connection with the third story from 'Within,' "The Devil's Concubine." In fact, this was the story's high point for me, since I don't particularly enjoy fantasy, and witches casting spells, even with some nifty superpowers included, still reads like fantasy to me. That said, Stone has gone overboard here, to offer a real adventure, action-packed and fast-paced. The writing is cinematic, atmospheric, and superbly detailed, without tiring the reader. And obviously there's more to come! Looking forward to see where Harper's story takes her.
This book has everything that made Harper’s first story (Hurt, from the book Within, A Three Part Horror) great, plus exciting action, great character development and a few surprises. Harper has quickly become one of my favorite characters in recent memory and I hope we get to see her again.
A huge thank you to Edmund Stone for allowing me a look at this amazing sequel to hurt for an honest opinion and review. Hurt was one of my favorite stories from his book called within and I'm soooo freaking happy that this excellent story has been continued in such a spectacular way, this guy is a truly excellent writer with a great subject matter. I'm hoping there will be at least another book, and I truly can't wait if/for when it happens. Also, side note, but this cove is art is truly bloody beautiful!! 5/5 loved it, thoroughly recommend!
Not only did I have the pleasure of being one of the very first readers of this amazing book, I also had the distinct honor of being asked by the author to be his editor!
I can't thank you enough, Edmund, for entrusting me with your amazing manuscript.
Punish is the sequel to Hurt, the second of three stories in Edmund's wonderfully disturbing collection Within: A Three Part Horror. You can read my full review at https://goo.su/mv7KN6 and get your copy of Within at:
I am super excited to share my 5-star review of Punish by Edmund Stone.
🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟
First of all, although Punish *could* be read as a stand-alone book, for maximum reading enjoyment I strongly suggest reading Hurt first, in which our heroine, Harper Lansing, is introduced. In Hurt, we also meet Harper's family, the good, the bad, and the downright evil, and become familiar with her heritage as a family of witches. Hurt also follows Harper as she discovers the rare and effective power she holds and how she uses it against the witch hunters set on destroying her and all she stands for in a final showdown you do not want to miss.
First she brought the Hurt, now she’ll bring the Pain
Punish begins five years later with Harper hiding in plain sight, confident that the Council of Hunters has been obliterated. But a letter she receives indicates otherwise. As she prepares to investigate and do battle once again, Harper runs into an old adversary, Stacy, from high school who shares with Harper important information about the Council and its new head hunter, her cousin Brady. Stacy also tells Harper that her beloved daughter, Madeline, a witch herself, is being held captive by Brady and the other hunters and seeks Harper's help to save the little girl. This leads Harper to embark on a new journey to destroy her enemies, while meeting and joining up with new friends, and a very unlikely ally, along the way to aid in her quest to conquer Brady and the Council once and for all.
Punish will be released on October 26th and can be pre-ordered by visiting:
Harper Lansing is back and is in for the fight of her life. Like its predecessor, Hurt, Punish reads less like a horror story and more like a fantasy tale with horrific elements. But the horror indeed builds in the life of Harper as she learns her enemies this time will not be so easily vanquished. With the help of two other witches, she acquires trinkets she needs for the challenge ahead. Along the way, she meets an unlikely ally in Shelley Bozeman, daughter of hunter boss Brady Bozeman. Harper discovers Brady has a new bag of tricks and she seems to be fighting a losing battle. With magic now empowering both sides, Harper's forced to go full-Dark Willow (iykyk) in order to defeat the maniacal Brady.
The sequel to Hurt (short story in Within: A Three Part Horror) develops Harper’s story with panache and page turning delight!
Reunited with an unexpected ally, Harper knows she must venture to Salem to find her truth and protect those with powers from the tech savvy hunters who will stop at nothing to wipe out all like Harper.
Edmund Stone’s flair is in showing action; and this delivers in spades - the world building and visualisation is vivid and immersive.
The narrative suggests more to come from Harper; a growing series to watch that will engage adult horror, fantasy and YA readers alike.
I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.
This is a continuation of the story that was started in Within called Hurt. The story starts with the protagonist receiving a letter by the new witch hunters. Take a journey with Harper to if she conquers the obstacles before her. See the Protagonist's improve her magical skills. Are her skills enough to help save her and the people she holds most dear.
This book will have you on the edge of your seat from the first chapter to the last, it did for me.

Punish is an absolute thrilling sequel to the story Hurt (Book #1 is Within a 3 part story). Harper is a witch on a journey for revenge. Running from the ones that want her dead, she finds herself becoming stronger and a better person. I was so excited to see her story continued and can't wait to see where her journey goes.
"Be careful and don't fall for the witches wares."
Finished ‘Punish’ by Edmund Stone. It was a terrific horror read. When I first read one of Stone’s short story, ‘Hurt’ (found in his collection “Within”), I wanted more of that world and Punisher delivers! This book also works as a stand alone work and would be enjoyable even if you never read ‘Hurt.’
Was so excited to read this sequel to Hurt one of the amazing stories in “Within” and I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Edge of your seat page turner that draws you into Harper’s world. Move this to the top of your must read list.
This book is all about revenge. Revenge against the witches. Revenge against Harper Revenge against Stacey. Revenge against the Hunters. Revenge against Shelley
It has been five years since Harper and her story “Hurt,” I am happy to read the continuation of Harper’s story from Within a Three-Part Horror Part Two Hurt.
Stacey Bozeman's uncle, Brady Bozeman, is the Head of the Council of Hunters, known as Biochem Holding, and he will stop at nothing to eradicate all witches, Harper being one of them.
This revenge story is well-written and kept me turning the pages, finishing it before I knew it. I particularly enjoyed the main character and her storyline, as she is determined to seek answers and maybe some revenge at the same time. Mr. Stone has quickly become one of my favorite authors.
“A girl with nothing, lost in a city that pays no attention, gobbling up its citizens who don't matter and giving them a place to hide. “ "My dear one, your essence screams of pain and fire. Explosions of light filled my mind when you reached out. I knew immediately who you were. Also, your exploits have sparked the interest of many a witch in hiding. William and Thomas were feared witch hunters and their deaths were welcome news to all the witches of the realm. The Collective owes you a debt of thanks for dispatching them. Those two have been culpable in many witch deaths, and now their reign of terror has ended," she says.” "You have the power of the Collective behind you and you can hide underground with them."
"So, everyone just lives here in bliss? Like some freaking oompa loompa land? I don't get it, do they have issues mentally, like me?" Esmerelda stops and turns to Harper. "We all have some form of mental anguish we're trying to work out. It's what makes us inherently the witches we are. Our mental illness fuels the power underneath, making it rise to the surface in all its wonderful glory, or ugliness at times. The trick is to make them work together and not oppose each other." Harper nods. She likes what Esmerelda is preaching.
Not only did I have the pleasure of being one of the very first readers of this amazing book, I also had the distinct honor of being asked by the author to be his editor!
I can't thank you enough, Edmund, for entrusting me with your amazing manuscript.

In this thrilling continuation of Harper Lansing's story, Stone weaves a tale that's impossible to put down. The introduction of Brady Bozeman and the internal strife within the Council of Hunters adds a layer of intrigue and suspense to the narrative. Harper's determination to protect herself and others with powers from the relentless hunters is both inspiring and heart-wrenching.
Stone's storytelling prowess shines through with vivid world-building, immersing the reader in a world filled with danger and magic. The action sequences are nothing short of spectacular, keeping me on the edge of my seat. It's clear that there's more to come from Harper, and I can't wait to continue following her journey.
I'd like to extend my gratitude to Edmund Stone for sharing this amazing sequel with me for an honest opinion and review. I hope there are more books to come in this series, and I'll be eagerly waiting for them.
Following on from the 2nd short story in Within, Harper is hiding in New York from the witch hunters determined to capture her and use her power but a letter arrives and she knows she has been found. This is her journey to find out who she is.
The Council of Hunters is now led by Brady and he is using science to drain the witches and use their power to defeat them but Harper is prepared to do anything to end his slaughter of her kind and to make them all pay for what they have taken from her.
A great witchy story, fast paced with secret magical places, cursed and powerful amulets, shadowy mercenaries, powerful witches, magic and mystery. There is also an underlying message here of the power of women, exploited and discarded, mental illness as a pathway to power and self harm as a weapon to defeat the enemy. An adventure story with magic, good versus evil and the fight for the right to exist, excellent!
I was excited to learn that my favorite character’s story from Within would be expanded on in this book. Punish continues to build a violent and magical world of Witches and the Witch Hunters. The main character, Harper, grew throughout this adventure through discovering more about herself, her family and her heritage. I was drawn in and quickly became invested in Harper’s fight for survival. Edmund’s vivid descriptions make you feel like you are right there alongside Harper with blood splashed across your face. The book is fast-paced and gruesome storytelling at its finest. If you like your murder and mayhem with a side of magic, I highly recommend you give Punish a read. Harper’s story of revenge doesn’t feel like it’s over and I will be waiting to ride along with the next chapter in her saga.
WOW! This book was action packed and sooo good. This is a sequel to one of the stories in Within called Hurt. This story follows Harper’s quest to put an end to the destruction caused by the hunters. She is faced with many trials and finds true allies on her way. She is fallowed by a young hunter who is not what she seems. This book is a great revenge story with action gore and true horror. I recommend this to everyone. Thank you so much Edmund Stone for the ARC and for the acknowledgment! That truly means the world to me! Keep up the great work. I look forward to what come next!
This Novel is the continuation of the story Hurt. It was published in the book Within.
The story continues Harper Lansing's story. Harper has an ability to self heal and a boomerang type protection. This has Good vs Evil vibes with magic.
Thank You Edmund Stone and Ruth Anna Evans for the Cover Art. The Cover tells a thousand words and is perfect for this story.
This is 5 star story. Read to find out if Harper Lansing's stays indestructible or does her powers wane.

All I can say is Harper Lansing is a total bad-ass! I didn't read the earlier books of the series, but even stand alone this was a fun witchy story! Definitely plan to read the rest of the series! **Thank you to the author for a copy to review! Totally dug it!**
