From Hoodies to Suits is a clear, timely and highly relevant book about one of the biggest shifts happening in finance: the movement of digital assets from crypto-native circles into the world of banks, asset managers, regulators and institutions.

Annelise Osborne does a strong job of bridging two very different cultures. On one side are the “hoodies” — the builders, developers and early crypto believers who created new financial rails outside the traditional system. On the other side are the “suits” — the institutions, regulators and financial professionals who now need to understand how blockchain, tokenization and digital assets can be used in real markets.

What I liked most is that the book does not treat crypto as only speculation or hype. It focuses more on the practical use cases: tokenized assets, private markets, settlement, funds, debt, repo, operational efficiency and how blockchain can modernize traditional finance. Osborne also does not ignore the failures of the industry, including events like FTX, which makes the book more balanced and credible.

This is probably not a book for someone looking for Bitcoin maximalism, trading tips or a deep technical breakdown of blockchains. Its strength is institutional finance. It explains why serious financial players are now paying attention to digital assets, and why the next phase of crypto may look less like retail speculation and more like infrastructure quietly changing how markets work.

For me, the biggest takeaway is that the future of finance will likely not be “crypto replacing banks” or “banks ignoring crypto.” It will be some combination of both worlds: innovation from the hoodies, scale and compliance from the suits.

A very useful read for anyone interested in where crypto, tokenization and traditional finance are heading next.
