About the author

Tom DeGeorge

8 books5 followers
Tom is a former CIA Officer, retired from the Directorate of Digital Innovation (DDI). That's as deep as he'll go on a resume. Or here. He writes spy thrillers out of respect and envy for Case Officers, and everyone else in the DO (Directorate of Operations). The DO are the fighter pilots of the CIA: “I was Air Force, but I wasn’t a fighter pilot.”

He lives in an old fishing village in coastal North Carolina: "I sleep late, I fly, I write; I have a big dog and a small house. I'm a decent cook and a lousy gardener. And Tom DeGeorge is my true name. I miss the people, the work, and the atmosphere at CIA. No one I know misses the stress, frustration, and the long line at the OHB Starbucks."

Bad Chemistry made a six-hour flight from Bogota to Buenos Aires seem like a commuter hop from New York to DC. Patrick Evans is back saving the world again, much to the consternation of the folks with Government jobs tasked with keeping a lid on things. Don’t be one of the Casualties (Patrick Evans Book One) who wait until Pat’s adventures fill a whole foot on the bookstore shelf. Be an early adopter. De George brings the spy craft, great locations, and the food… Being a spy burns calories. Pat knows how to load up while on stakeouts, so he can chase the bad guys without needing to stop for fuel.
The people who Tom puts in his stories all come fully formed. Not even minor single scene characters are there just to serve the plot. The prose remains focused on movement, creating and resolving conflict, but at no point does it seem contrived. It is the random specific detail of clothing or song on the restaurant’s sound system or the color of the entry door that grounds the reader in the moment. Then all hell breaks loose. Bad Chemistry is another Good Read.

Patrick Evans sophomore book is another winner

After reading the first book I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. The characters are well developed and well written, and the authors history with the CIA gives the book authenticity and detail that would be impossible to achieve otherwise.

The book starts out with Pat working on the hill advising several congressmen about intelligence issues, including a member of the house intelligence committee. When the house members chief of staff and half brother disappears, Pat is recruited to help track him down. This simple task immediately escalates, and suddenly Pat is in the middle of a conspiracy involving drug cartels, China, spies and politicians.

This book opens with its foot on the gas pedal and does not let up. I highly recommend it. Although if you haven’t read the first one, I would start there. I promise you won’t regret it.

Oh my gosh what a great read!

I loved the first one and couldn’t wait for the second…..I dragged it out as long as I could but darn it, it’s finished and now I’m jonesin’ for another one! Action packed, but I didn’t blow through this like I do most books, there’s a lot of detail to savor, and lots of surprises. I very highly recommend this author!
