Wow! What a premise, and one that is surely not impossible!
A deadly virus has struck the wild bird population in rural North Dakota. The sick birds, attracted to noise and lights, are violently attacking people, and infecting them with this avian virus.
Emily, the main character, is a veterinarian, living with her 2 year old daughter, and her brother.
When a veterinarian, Jack, from the state board, arrives in town, to test both birds and humans, he realizes that Emily is his former girlfriend.
While trying to survive the epidemic, Emily and Jack rekindle their love.
This was a very engaging book, albeit tense at times.
I found it very well written, and gave it 4 stars!
Thank you to BookSirens for the advanced copy in return for my honest review.

This book is a must read! I always love a book with veterinary medicine, add in some horror, action, as well as romance, and I'd say it has something for everyone. Very few authors are capable of writing such a masterpiece that I can't stop turning the page, but Sarah Davis has done just that with Prey. Five stars from me!

Thank you, Sarah Davis

The story is about a veterinarian who is trying to create a cure for the newest Avian Influenza. It's very atmospheric with believable scenarios. Lovers of disaster movies will want to read this story.

While reading the story, I got very strong vibes of the Alfred Hitchcock' the Birds.

I’m the first reviewer! Woo hoo! Three stars for this one. It wasn’t great by any means, but it was good enough to finish.

A mutated avian influenza sweeps through a North Dakota town infecting birds and humans. Where did it originate? How does it spread? Dr. Emily Hayes and her colleagues are racing against the clock to solve these mysteries before another pandemic shuts the country down.

This book had great potential. It could have been very horrifying-killer birds spreading “mad crow” disease?!-but, alas, it was a let down. The mediocre descriptions of the bird attacks, the melancholic reactions from the townspeople, the under developed characters? I wanted more from this book. I wanted to be terrified of birds when I walk out my door! (Hello? Hitchcock?) But I just found myself passing the time with another “meh” read.

Thank you to BookSirens and Sarah Davis for an advanced copy of this book! I am leaving this review voluntarily.
