Embark on a mystical journey toward the mighty Himalayas, where ancient legends and divine beings come alive. In "Gods & Ghosts of Himalayas," a captivating collection of short stories, tales of love, adventure, and the supernatural weave a tapestry of magic. A young boy’s yearly encounters with a spirit of a girl, a girl blessed with freedom from hunger through a divine fruit, and a man guided through perilous jungle trails by a benevolent spirit — these tales are just the beginning. Delve into the mysterious world where an ominous mare roams at midnight, bringing doom to those who dare to look at it, Devatas fiercely guarding their treasures, and the Land of Fairies calling to an another world.
Gods & Ghosts of the Himalayas has a great premise and an intriguing cultural backdrop, but the execution falls short. While the stories have a few atmospheric moments, they never quite deliver the level of suspense or horror you might expect—especially if you're a seasoned horror reader.
The pacing was the biggest drawback for me. Many stories felt overly stretched with unnecessary details, which slowed down the momentum and diluted the impact.
Overall, it’s an okay read with interesting folklore elements, but not a standout in the horror genre.
