I bought this book after I went to a retreat at the church I attend. This book has some good spiritual insights. I like that the author writes about a loving and forgiving God.

I also like his views on the “Church”. Two quotes about this:
“The Church is not God, but a faith community that is subject to the same faults and imperfections as humans.” page 174
“I don’t worship the Church. I worship in the Church.” page 175
I feel like we get tied up in man made rules from the Church and forget about the real point of being a spiritual person.

I think this may sum up his philosophy. “Our purpose on this earth is to live ourselves and each other for we are made in the image of God. That is our journey.” page 212

I loved the message of this book! The only reason it gets 4/5 stars is because there are some spelling/grammar errors and is redundant at times, but the content is so meaningful. Such important topics regarding spirituality. Will reference it many times again 😊

Got to hear Fr. Tom speak and bought 2 of his books to learn more. He and I could be the same person.... Except for that whole priest/widow, male/female, Texan/Californian thing. Good to read how priests are human people too and suffer the same fears and doubts as we lay folk....
