I highly recommend this novel for the romance lovers who crave creativity. I do not quite agree with the relationship between the two main characters, but nevertheless this book is beautifully written. However I did read this book in German. I heard that the English version of the book isn't quite as good.

Read first in German, then as "The Reader" in English. The German version was wonderful, and in English I was compelled to read the novel in a single sitting. A memorable work.
