This book was being provided for free on Facebook so I chose to nab it....
The Iron Heart of Mars is a story about a brother and sister who along with their robot end up finding a state-of-the-art spaceship in a clearing behind their school. And as a result of their boldly going forth to check it out, they begin off on a trip of a lifetime, which leads them to the start of their intergalactic adventures.
Although published in 2023 the book is rather refreshing in comparison to other newer books since these are siblings that are getting along and playing outside with each other at the start of the book even as they use their imaginations. Furthermore the book also provides the reader with fun facts about space as the reader goes along (not a fan we are still dealing with the Pluto is a dwarf planet crud) and Mars in a way that it doesn't feel like you are being taught at.
The book is clean - no identity politics, no CRT, no feminism - and quite humorous at times while each character works with each other to help bypass problems.
With its refreshingly clean humor, its simple writing style and fallback to what good books used to read like I would most definitely recommend this book to young readers who are looking for a quick adventure read, especially ones who like anything space.
Simple writing with an older elementary character, so a hood hi-lo choice. But the plot was odd. It seemed like too much was happening and nothing all at the same time.
