Sawyer has ended up in an underwater Super-Max prison along with all the other superheroes acting against the law and every supervillain ever captured. Meanwhile, Alex has started dating his girlfriend. Weirdly, my favorite part is how Alex is absolutely the worst friend ever but keeps trying to think he's not a bad guy. ASCAJ AKA All Superhero Cops are Jerks.. Sadly, the Sawyer parts are just depressing.
This is a prison escape super hero/ super villain style adventure and what an adventure it is. This series is written as one big book, with each book giving you an idea of what is going to happen and then continuing in the next book. This does mean you need to read or listen to the books in order and be prepared to want, no need the next book. The story is told with each chapter following a different character. This works well, letting the story flow nicely and giving you plenty of action, drama and suspense. I am just loving the characters and the difficult situations they keep finding themselves in. I can't wait for the next book. Sawyer aka Black Harrier's days as a super hero are over. Trying to save the world has cost him his girlfriend and now his freedom. He is sent to an underwater prison that no one has escaped from, not even a super villain. Can a hero survive being locked up with some of the villains he helped put in there? Or will breaking out with some of those said villains be his only choice? Meanwhile his father's plans to run for mayor are over and somebody is doing there best to destroy his company but the way Frank is feeling he could very well do it himself. Alex feels guilty for putting his friend and partner behind bars but it won't stop him from still doing his job, even if that job calls for putting his ex girlfriend there to. Can he really turn us back on his so called friends? There are a number of narrator's for this book, each one having there own character to follow. This makes following the story so easy, as each sounds very different but all very talented at voices.
Sawyer is in Trench the unescapable prison in the ocean. He gets there and Short Circuit immediately recruits him for a jailbreak. They escape along with Justice, Royal Rampage, and Sinsation. They are met by Louis Chen on the surface just in time for the Alien Invasion. I think he was in the Trench for maybe 2 weeks?
Oh yeah and Alex briefly date's Sawyer's ex Summer. On one of their dates the Resistors show up to stop a bunch of people, and it is a thing again.
If this wasn't a freebie on Audible, I wouldn't keep listening, but now I want to know how the alien invasion goes.

I got this free from Audible and read along on Kindle. I love where they took this one, literally and figuratively. These stories are fun and light and well-written. Some of these characters are hilarious. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes superhero fiction.
I was not expecting this book to go the way that it did and that ending was epic. I am super excited for book 6. I really enjoyed the Trench and the characters that were used in this book. I am ready to start book 6 in this series, this one is a must read!
These books are fun reads. Humor, action, and a touch of romance. There are a handful of editing mistakes, but I won’t hold that against it. Just grab this and have a good time. Looking forward to the next one
