This is an excellent, academic, examination of the rise of youth gangs in Boston in the 1980's and then how former gang members were able to get out of the life. Make no mistake this is an academic work and as such is at times dry and methodological. It is a must read with anyone interested in the academic side of criminal justice.
A four star read when talking about the gangs and interviewing members. Very much a dissertation and scholarly book for the rest of the book, so two stars for that part of the book
