Morgan Greene grew up in Wales, and works a copywriter, editor, and author. Morgan studied Creative Writing and English Literature at Swansea University with a focus on narrative structure and theory, and published the first crime novel in the Jamie Johansson series in 2020. Since its release, the series has gone on to reach bestseller status, with Detective Jamie Johansson quickly becoming a reader favourite.
The series blends classic Scandi-noir elements with modern and cinematic thriller writing to create a unique style that adds to the emerging Brit-noir genre. Jamie has many novels ahead of her, but Morgan is also working on a variety of other projects across crime, thriller, and mystery and plans to publish plenty more in 2022 and beyond.
First and foremost, a large thank you to Morgan Greene for providing me with a copy of this publication, which allows me to provide you with an unbiased review.
Morgan Greene has never disappointed with his Jamie Johansson series and I was pleased to receive an ARC for the latest novel. I have been tracking Jamie from the start and the adventures have been intense, filled with various locales and tension on every page. As Jamie returned to Wales to help out with a local matter, she finds herself labelled as a Special Assistant to INTERPOL, having burnt many bridges in the police world. Still trying to keep a teenaged member of the Georgian Royal Family safe from a ruthless crime family, she notices that there has been a switch in the power at the top, but she remains the prime target. Working alongside a number of key allies and a few who have apparently betrayed the cause, Jamie will have to find a way to protect herself and the girl for whom she is responsible, while fleeing those who are trying to locate her. Greene does not dilute the action at any point and series fans will surely enjoy all he has to offer.
While the Petrosyan trafficking operation has been blown wide open by Jamie Johansson, the NCA and INTERPOL are working to build a case against the Armenians. However, key witnesses in the case are dying, apparently from freak accidents, but Jamie knows better. These are targeted kills and the case is crumbling with each newly discovered body.
Working as a Special Assistant to INTERPOL, Jamie Johansson is trying to protect the one girl who might have key information about the trafficking ring, but Alaiana Darejani Katamadze (Alina for short) being targeted as another person who knows too much. The NCA cannot gather intel quickly enough and the case is getting thinner by the moment. It is as though there is a new leader in the Petrosyan gang and the direction seems to be different. Little does Jamie now, but Seda Petrosyan is ready to avenge her nephew’s murder and the crosshairs are pointed directly at the former Met officer.
Jamie is forced to work with a former partner whose reluctance to work alongside her tells a larger tale. With no support and few leads to follow, Jamie must get to the core of the matter and cut yet another head off the proverbial Hydra. She’s. targeted and left for dead at some point, providing an added incentive to kill the new Petrosyan leader and end the terror once and for all. With Alina in danger once more and few answers to the myriad of questions, Jamie will have to go out on a limb once more to get answers and keep her ward safe before she is pulled into a world of dire straits. Trouble is, Jamie has no one she can rely on and even the authorities have targeted her for arrest. Someone is leaking information to the Petrosyans, making Jamie feel as though this is even more personal. Greene is at the height of his game and keeping series fans highly entertained.
Morgan Greene has been on my radar for a number of years, with these great Jamie Johansson novels that have taken many twists in their development. Once a police officer with the Met, Jamie has morphed into a gritty enforcer, seeking to make a difference for those who need it most. Greene builds this up with a strong narrative and does not slow until all s revealed, though there is little conclusion, only more cliffhangers for the next piece. Greene keeps the reader entertained and seeking more, in a series that has shown there is no linear path. With great characters and more on the horizon, Greene shows that he can use his abilities to flavour the story in many ways effectively.
Greene keeps things on edge with great plot points that add depth to the story. His twists occur regularly and with great impact, keeping Jamie Johansson on edge and constantly evolving. As I mentioned before, I have been around Jamie from the start and much has changed, but this transition has come through a number of key moments and plot twists that Greene creates effectively. His writing has also evolved and this series (I consider the numerous sub-series to be part of a single larger one) is one of my favourites, as I have seen so much growth. I await the next novel and how things will progress, or if Jamie has finally met her match and regresses into being lost once more with no one to help.
Kudos, Mr., Greene, for impressing me time and again.
I must thank Morgan Greene for an advance copy of the book for an unbiased review.
After the rollercoaster ride of the previous two Jamie Johansson books the third part of the story starts off calmer. Setting the scene after the large police raid at the end of the previous book.
Back with her old Met partner Hassan again. They continue their work on an off the books operation which is looking into the murder of a number of those arrested at the end of book two. This book has a more personal feel than the previous two focusing on more one to one battles for the protagonists, leading up to stopping a larger scale event especially in book two.
This resulted in the book not being the tension rollercoaster of the previous volumes, but more a steady ride from each encounter with the criminal gang who are trying to get revenge for Jamie shutting down their operations and killing their “head” in the last book. This gentler ride does not lessen the ride or wanting to find out the next twist in the story.
With a fourth instalment of this part of Jamie’s story coming out soon & the previous adventures for me to read, there is more of this character to discover which I am looking forward to.
Very entertaining and hooking from the very beginning! A complex and thrilling plot had me grip my armchair many times, and I couldn't put the book down. I enjoyed the way Jamie is developing (she did shed a few tears a few times!), and I love her fighting skills! I really like the group of unlikely friends she has made, each with a very special personality... I only wish the book had been longer! The next installment will be in June, and I can't wait for it!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC of this and it was brilliant. No spoilers, you can read the synopsis for the storyline, all I will say is it’s another adrenaline rush of a book, Jamie is still in the UK and fighting the bad guys. It’s a roller coaster of a ride and some big surprises in store and I can’t wait for the next adventure. If you haven’t read this series, do it, recommend you start at the beginning, which has been listed on Morgan Greene’s page. And enjoy the ride!
Book 3 in the Jamie Johansson Files series, set in Wales and whilst it could be read as a stand-alone I would definitely recommend reading the previous books in the series as each book is a part of a bigger story, and they are great books. After rescuing Alaiana Darejani Katamadze, now called Alina, from the Petrosyan trafficking operation Alina is living on a farm in the Welsh countryside with Elliott. It has become clear that despite thinking the head of the Petrosyan had been killed that is not the case and that his aunt Seda Petrosyan has been in charge all along and she is now out for revenge. Jamie is a brilliant character and I have read all the series as she moves from country to country, watching her character change and this time there are definitely some softer moments on show.
Briefly, a slew of witness are due to give evidence against the Petrosyan’s and it is clear that they are being killed off, one by one. The NCA are closing the cases without a thorough investigation and Jamie smells a rat. Jamie and Hassan are working with Hallberg (Interpol) off the record with one aim in mind, to kill Seda before she kills them.
This case is personal for both the hunter and the hunted and the tension is palpable. As always this is well written with a great plot and had to be a one sitting read as I was desperate to know where Jamie’s life is going next. I know I shouldn’t but I really like Elliott, he’s probably borderline psychopath but he does seems to care for Alina and Jamie. Another brilliant and gripping story in the series and I can’t wait for the next one.
Having followed Jamie Johansson's journey, I was excited to read the next installment in this series.
This book honestly had me on the edge of the seat and yet again we see Jamie faced with a foe unlike any she's faced before. Out of all the book's in the series this one has to be my favourite. It's full of action and plot twists that will leave you unable to put the book down.
Morgan Greene has done a truly fantastic job in developing the character of Jamie. It's not easy to create a series of books that still has legs after 13 novels but he has done just that. Each book brings out a different side to Jamie's character, and the addition of the character of Alina has brought out a more caring side that has surprised Jamie and us the readers.
After so many years facing death and living a life on the edge, Jamie begins to realise that if she died, who would miss her? She has 'friends' in her life and people that care about her but does she truly know them outside of work?
Yet again we see the appearance of Elliot Day and it's interesting to see how his and Jamie's relationship continues to develop. Despite all he's done, Elliot is a strangely likeable character and one of the few people that truly cares about Jamie. The plot twist in the final few chapters was unexpected and adds a new dynamic to their relationship.
Overall I really enjoyed this book, it was classic Morgan Greene with Jamie facing Seda Petrosyan, a foe with seemingly no morality. Having brought down the sex trafficking ring, we see Jamie face evil and death once more. Looking forward to the next book in the series and what awaits Jamie in this next season of her life.
Thank you, Morgan Greene, for the copy of ‘The Hiss of the snake’. The third book in the Jamie Johansson files series. The Petrosyan trafficking operation has been apprehended whilst the NCA and Interpol are trying to build a case against them but, the key witnesses against them are ending up dead. Is this a coincidence or is someone out there killing them off. This includes Jamie as she is back In Wales doing a job as a Special consultant for Interpol for a different matter and still trying to keep Alina away from harm. But that is difficult, when Jamie learn that there is a new head of the Petrosyan Syndicate seeking revenge on Jamie after killing one of their own. With the help with Elliot and co, will she stop anyone else being killed and protect Alina from being taken. This is another fast-paced thriller, full of action which I couldn’t put down and basically read it in 2 sittings. This is full of tension and intrigue and has a convincing plot. There was a lot going on in this story which involved several characters and government agencies. But it never felt bogged down, it just made me want to read more. This is a brilliant read and can’t wait to read more. 5 stars.
First a massive thank you to Morgan Greene for the Arc copy of" The Hiss of The Snake" the third book in the Jamie Johansson case files series. The fourteenth book from Morgan featuring Jamie Johansson the strong female lead of the series. Honestly can't believe this is the fourteenth book and they just keep getting better.
Jamie is being targeted by the head of the Petrosyan Syndicate in this book who is out for revenge after the events of the previous book The Mark of The Dead. Jamie along with Elliot and Hossan are keeping Alina safe but for how long.....
Jamie's character has evolved so much over the series and we find now we are seeing a more human side to the character. Fast paced with lots of action and intrigue with some humor thrown in , will keep you hooked from page one. This series would make a brilliant tv series and I for one can't wait for the next book. I've definitely found my favourite author.
Oh this was so good. Jamie is now being targeted by the head of the Petrosyan syndicate who is out for revenge following events from the last book. Along with Elliott and Hassan, they are keeping Alina safe but for how long?
This was a real fast-paced thriller. Lots of action, intrigue involving various government agencies and even some poisoning all make for the ingredients of an amaing book. I'm still getting used to seeing a more human and emotional side of Jamie and here, we see even further evidence of this which is quite strange but quite wonderful. It also allows for some humourous moments in between all the action. This is probably my favourite of the three books so far in this series and I can't wait for the next.
SO glad I recently accidentally discovered Morgan Greene’s fantastic Jamie Johansson series as it meant I could read all 12 books one after the other - but after finishing the Hiss Of The Snake, and am glad there is one more book to go, or I would be very sad. I will also happily explore his other books. Each book just got better and better. I started with Angel Maker and was hooked straight away; so went back to the Prequel Trilogy - and immediately recommended the series to friends - who have also loved starting the series. THANK YOU Morgan for creating such a compelling (& flawed) character all with different varying plot lines! Cannot wait to delve into the next book - and beyond!
The third part of Jamie Johansson story, involving child trafficking, corruption, murder , a serial killer as a best friend, disgraced ex police officer Jamie continues her quest to bring a Albanian criminal empire down.Mysterious a deadly arch nemesis female, who is murdering witnesses, followed by exposing of politicians and business leaders being exposed as corrupt and child molesters causing a collapse of public order, through all this she and her team of maverick individuals pursue their quarry. A racy exiting action thriller, with good characters, an exiting plot and a satisfactory conclusion. What more could you ask for.
Now he has returned to these shores I think it's time we officially crowned Morgan Greene the King of Welsh noir. He seduces his readers with the beautiful quality of his prose and then leads them unawares into the dark and disturbing world of Jamie Johansson. The plot here, once again, unfolds at breakneck speed but the author still maintains the strong character driven nature of his storytelling. Jamie is surrounded by a strange collection of misfits, working outside the rules of Interpol or any legitimate law enforcement agency, they include a man completely on the wrong side of the tracks who has all the charm of a tailor made hero. An absolute perfect addition to this series.
I'm never disappointed with Morgans books, and this one is just as brilliant. After all that happened is the 2nd book, Jamie is now walking around with a bullseye on her back while looking after Aline. I was lucky enough to get a copy sooner then the release and I'm so chuffed I did, because this series is such a roller coaster of action. It's definitely another series that needs to be read, because you are really missing out otherwise. Well Done Mr G on yet another superb read, you never fail to amaze me with your books.
I love this entire series and this book is equally great. I love Jamie and the cases are always fast paced and interesting, intense and terrifying. Having said that I truly wish she would settle down, quit rushing headlong into dangerous situations with no regard for her safety or the safety of others. She's reckless and idiotic far too often and I would love to see her become more "human" and forge some real relationships instead of sabotaging them all. Having said all that bring on some more Jamie.
Many thanks to Morgan as ever for the advanced reader copy of this book, I loved it!! Fast paced and action packed this book did not let up until the very end. There's also plenty of intrigue with multiple government agencies involved in the plot throughout and the last few chapters in particular are absolutely brilliant, definitely got my heart rate going! I feel we definitely see a more human side of Jamie emerging in this book which I'm looking forward to seeing unfold going forward. For now I'll just have to impatiently await the next installment 😊
OMG, I can't get enough of Jamie Johansson, once I start reading I can't put it down. The fight between Jamie and Seda was intense and well written and I let out a cheer in my mind, when Jamie dealt the final blow..the next book can't get here soon enough xx
I have read all of the books about Jamie Johansson. Each book has gotten progressively better. The characters are well developed and feel like family. I always look forward to catching up with Jamie. I would suggest reading them in order.
Good final part to this trilogy. The only problem I have is the fights and injuries that Jamie gets, it seems a little over the top. Love the Welsh setting, could identify with a lot of the scenes e.g. Cardiff Market etc. Looking forward to her going back to Sweden......well I think so!!
I love reading these books by Morgan Greene. He brings the characters to life. I hope one-day someone will turn these into a series on Britbox or Acorn That way I could watch in the United States. I would love to see who plays Jamie Johansson.
Book 3 of the Jamie Johansson files. It was another quick read, full of action. I have enjoyed these books set in Wales, but I prefer the ones set in Sweden. Looking forward to the next book.
Morgan Greene has created a series of books about an extraordinary character, DI Jamie Johansson, of which I never tire. There is depth of characters, and twisty surprises all along the way.
