This series is designed to help pupils write poetry and comprises two packs, each containing a teacher's handbook and a pack of 32 cards. Pack A is for use with lower juniors (seven to nine) and Pack B is for use with the nine to twelve age group. The cards contain 30 units, and each unit is based around a theme, the activities can be integrated into classroom projects and topic work. The card format also allows the teacher flexibility in using the material. The handbook gives practical advice on the use of the pupil cards and provides an informative look at the teaching of poetry in schools with a section on the formation of a school poetry policy. The author is a primary language advisor and has written "Storyworlds" and "The Spoken Word Project".

Richard was a primary school teacher and advisory teacher for literacy for over twenty years before becoming a freelance writer of children's books and books for schools. He is the author of many picture books and poetry anthologies for younger children, many of which have been adapted for the teaching of English overseas.
