Navy SEAL Preston Lawson is dead. At least on paper. When the Navy mistakenly reports him as KIA, it gives Preston the opportunity to join an elite BlackOps team. It’s perfect for a man like him… No family, no commitments. No romance…
On leave for the holidays, Preston heads to the last place he was truly happy… The resort where he met Lila, a stunningly beautiful woman who stole his heart, years ago. He’s supposed to stay off the grid—and alone. But then he sees her. Lila. Along with a son he never knew existed…
Lila wrote off Preston years ago. Of all the sneaky, underhanded things a man could do. Pretending to be dead, just to avoid her? Furious is putting it mildly. But when she bumps into Preston at the very same resort where they met, she calms down long enough for him to explain. And she can’t deny the sizzling chemistry they both still share.
When things take a dangerous turn, Lila’s grateful to have a sexy Navy SEAL in her corner. And maybe in her bed as well…
It isn’t a big surprise Katie Knight ended up writing romances about the stellar, studdly men of the Navy SEALs; after all, she was a K-9 trainer for the SEALs and met her own Navy SEAL hero husband while preparing one of their K-9 partners for combat. A few years after their marriage, her and hubby decided to retire with their K-9 partner, Sam, to raise their children in the Midwest. It wasn’t long after that before Katie decided to write her own stories featuring the men of the SEAL teams and the women who love them.
When not imagining dangerously romantic scenarios for her heroes and their feisty heroines, Katie enjoys hikes with her husband and Sam, spending time with her children, and long runs (on and off the beach).
This book was a good one for this winter and as I always say: my guilty pleasure are the books with military theme and here our MMC is a former SEAL who happens to be a member of a special team where he is literally a ghost, I liked that there was no big drama when he found out he was a father and all the mystery the author put around the FMC and his son. It's more than okay to pass the time and it reads super fast.

The two months that Lila and Preston spent together were the happiest time of both their lives but they both knew that it had a limited shelf life as it was only a matter of time before he was deployed again. After he is sent overseas Lila realizes that he left her with much more than a memory but when she tried to track him down she never expected to be advised that he wouldn’t be coming back from his last mission.
When Preston was reported as dead he decides to stay that way. When Lila decides to visit the place that they were last together she never expected that he was alive and would be there as well. The chemistry and connection between them is stronger than ever but will he have to choose between his love for Lila and loyalty to his team?
I absolutely loved the slow-burn second chance romance in Snowed in with the SEAL. The chemistry between Preston and Lila is undeniable, and the holiday setting adds a magical touch to their love story. The mystery element brings an extra level of excitement, keeping you engaged until the end. I adored their little family and the winter setting with the outdoor activities. It made me feel like I was right there with them in the beautiful white snow.
If you're a fan of second chance romances, mysteries, and the holiday spirit, Snowed in with the SEAL is the perfect book for you. It's a delightful escape into a world of love, adventure, and holiday magic.

the title of this book is really misleading. there was no snowed in. like there was no point in this story where the MC's where trapped in a building together due to adverse weather? did i miss something?
anyway, this book was a lovely book to read over the winter season. it was cosy and had me wanting to wrap up in a blanket burrito with a hot chocolate. there was also a dash of mystery too which was a welcome surprise.
now while the general vibe of the book was great, i didn't enjoy every second and heres why:
the sow burn was too slow. it was glacial. the mystery was really out of place. i didn't understand where it fit in with the general plot of the book? there wasn't that much chemistry between Preston and Lila. their romance fell sort of flat for me and finally, like i said, the MC's werent snowed in together? there wasnt a snow storm or anything. if you want to get picky, yes they did end up sharing a house BUT either one of them could have left.
all in all, it was a good book. I wouldn't read it again though.
Read this before, but it was called the seals Christmas baby. Great story about a girl and a Navy Seal that have a great few days in a cabin in the mountains. He has to leave on assignment and wants no attachments, but she loves him. Well there's a surprise for her and then devastation. While he's overseas his unit is ambushed and they had been set up. Now he's about to do something that will change his and her lives forever. HEA.
Katie Knight has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Lila and Preston. Lila and Preston meet while he is on leave from the Seals after a mission. They spend the rest of his leave together. On the day he is to leave, she asks him to keep in touch with her. He tells her that he will when he can. Lila is not feeling good and she goes to the doctor and finds out she is pregnant. She tries to get in touch with Preston but can't. She goes to the base and meets the base chaplain and he ends up helping her. He finds out that Preston has been listed as killed in action. Lila had a rough time during her pregnancy and delivery. Soon after her son Parker is born, he has to have surgery. She has to get two jobs to make the bills. She needs some money, so she goes to Sal for a loan. She makes the payments until she gets an inheritance of a house from an uncle she didn't know. She sells the house and can spend some time at home with Parker. She goes to pay Sal off and while she is there a man tells her how handsome her son is. The man gives her the creeps and she doesn't want to be around him. He said that he lost his son when he was 2 years old. She decides to go to Cedar Lodge for the Christmas holidays to get away for a while. Preston has gone back to Cedar Lodge until his next mission comes in. He is taking his things into his cabin when he sees the woman in the cabin next to him. He doesn't believe what he is seeing. He sees Lila and a little boy. She looks up and sees him; he knows he can't let her know it is him. When she comes up to him and calls him Preston, he tells her that she has the wrong man. He calls his CO and tells him what happened and is told to wait until he is called with orders. Preston can't stand not letting Lila know it is his. He goes to see her and he sees Parker. The child is about the right age and he asks if Parker is his son. She tells him that he isn't and she doesn't want to talk to him. They end up talking and he tells her what happened and she lets him know that Parker is his. He wants to get to know Parker but she doesn't want to let him around Parker and then leave again for good. Preston finally gets Lila to agree to let him meet Parker. They start spending time together so that Preston can get to know his son. Preston gets Lila to agree to go out to dinner with him and when they come back to her cabin, he notices the front door is messed up like someone had tried to break in. Preston says something to Lila about the door but she says nothing back to him. Things start to happen to her that Preston doesn't like. Preston finally tells her about what he thinks after someone pushes her out of the ski lift. She is taken to the hospital but doesn't remember the accident. Preston and Parker are at the hospital the next morning and when Preston walks in, he sees a man trying to smother Lila with a pillow. Preston stops the man but gets hurt while fighting with him. The police are called and when asked what happened she tells them she can't remember the accident. Preston takes her back to the cabin and tells her that he is going to be staying with her until she is better. Someone breaks into the cabin again and gets away when Preston goes after him. The police are called again and this time, Lila remembers about the man who said something about Parker. She lets Preston and the police know about the man and Preston thinks that the person after her is connected to that man. They come up with a plan to catch the person after her but Preston doesn't like it. Things don't go the way they plan because the person doesn't come after Lila at the cabin. Preston decides to let Lila and Parker go to the Christman party at the Lodge but he wants to be in sight of them at all times. Lila has gone to the bathroom with Clara and Clara is attacked. When Lila checks on her, there is a man inside and he goes after Lila and tells her that as soon as she is gone, it will be quicker to grab Parker and leave. The man then tells her the plans for her son. Just as the man is trying to kill Lila, Preston walks in and attacks the man, and stops him from hurting Lila. Preston and the police find out the truth from the man and offer him a deal to get his help in getting the man behind wanting Parker. Preston gets a call from his CO and tells him what is going on and he gets told about another job he may be interested in that doesn't have him going on any missions. Lila wants to know who is on the phone but Preston doesn't tell her. Will Lila and Preston work things out between them, and get back together, and become a family like Preston wants them to be? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

This second chance at love romance includes lots of spice, a bit of angst and some fascinating suspense. Three years ago, Preston and Lila had a passionate two month fling while he was on leave from his SEAL duties just before another deployment. They agreed to no commitments, no catching feelings when they first met, but neither expected the deep connection between them. Lila declared her love on their last day and asked him to keep in touch. Preston, however, avoided any talk of his feelings and never agreed to her request to stay in touch. Both had suffered the loss of their family in the past, and while Lila’s heart was still open to finding love, Preston’s was not. His soul focus was his career as a SEAL, with no other commitments to worry about. A few months later, both of the lives changed. Lila discovered her pregnancy and Preston took on a new covert assignment after being declared dead.
Flash forward to the present, and Fate brings Preston and Lila back to where they met. Once again he is on leave, but now he has a new identity and is supposed to avoid his past haunts and anyone who knew him from the past. Big fail there. Lila came for sentimental reasons and to reconnect with the memories of her toddler son’s father. She never expected to see the man who was declared dead by the military or to have him staying in the cabin next door. Shock soon turns to outrage and anger for everything she has been through since he left her. For Preston, seeing Lila again is problematic to his job, but not to his mind which could not forget her or his heart that seems to have been sparked back to life. Discovering he has a son? Preston can’t adhere to rules he agreed to follow. He can’t stay away from Lila and his son, and he does tell why he was declared dead. Thankfully for him, Lila agrees to let Preston interact with his son, though she vows to protect both her son’s heart and her own.
Is this meant to be just another idyllic interlude for Preston and Lila, then they are back to where they were before? Why is Lila suddenly caught in dangerous situations? Can Preston protect her and their son? What happens when he has to leave again on another mission? Can he really leave Lila and their son now that Fate or a divine entity has shown him what he has been missing? Can Lila really forgive him? Is a happily ever after in their future or only more heartbreak? So many questions to be answered as you read this captivating book.

Snowed in With the Seal by Katie Knight takes place at Christmas. After three years of terrible luck, Lila’s luck had finally turned. An uncle she had hardly been aware of died and left her his house. It was Coronado Island in San Diego and so had been worth a fortune. She was able to pay off her loan with the loan shark and take a vacation. It was a vacation to a resort where had worked years before and met the man who would be her son’s father. It would be a Christmas to remember for her little boy, Parker. He was two and a half so he didn’t really remember the lean years. They had been there about a week when she saw a man she recognized. His hair was longer and he had a beard. He was supposed to be dead. But, when she called out, he told her she was mistaken. Meanwhile, om the cabin next door, Preston did’t know what to do. He had recognized Lila too, and the little boy looked just like him. He no longer used his real name and was supposed to be off the grid. He called his commanding officer to instructions on how to proceed.
Preston had grown up in foster homes; he could barely remember his parents. He had had a great summer with Lila but knew he could never love her or anyone, so he returned to his unit and deployed. Not long after they had been hit with a IED and Randy, his friend, had died. The reports coming back said he had, too. According to his commanding officer he had a decision to make: stay dead and track the traitors, or fix the mistake. He chose the former. He was good a what he did. He was strong, well-trained, and efficient. Lila was just as strong but in a different context. Now the series of accidents happening to her was looking like something more. Preston still hadn’t heard back from his commanding officer. Parker called him “Daddy,” but Lila said he called every man “Daddy,” so don’t get excited. They were likable characters with strong personalities. It was a good story, a little different and kept the reader wondering. The pacing was good and reading it just made me feel good.

He's the perfect choice since he has nothing and no one to go home to.
Now 3 years later, he returns to the ski lodge where he had met her. He'd been truly happy there once. He's in for a big surprise this trip! But he's still in a black ops job and someone is trying to harm his family. It's do or die time!

Preston and Lila met one summer while he was on leave from the SEALs. They had an undeniable chemistry, but he made her no promises that he would stay in touch with her. His first mission was riddled with problems from his friend being killed, the mission was compromised, and he was shot including reported deceased. They left him deceased so he could go deep undercover hopefully to discover the person that sold out his team's location getting his friend killed. Three years later, he was getting the first time off, since he went undercover, and he was returning to the resort where he met Lila to spend Christmas. The weather was so much different from what he was use to exchanging a sandbox for snow. He knew it was impossible for her to be there, but he would feel closer to the only person he could ever love. When he arrived there was a woman next door with a little boy that looked like Lila and the boy like Preston with the age being right for him to belong him. It could not be, but it was. Preston was a father. What was he going to do now? Then all these attempts against Lila's life started. What was going on there? Was he going to leave on his mission again for years to possibly never be heard from him again? The action was real with lots of mystery and intrigue, a great holiday story with heartfelt emotions as Preston and Lila rediscover their love and a family with Parker.

A great read by Katie Knight. This is the first book I have read of hers and fell in love with the characters.
The chemistry between Preston and Lila is on fire, but as Preston is going to be deployed soon, he tries to let her down easily. For Lila, she is already in love with Preston.
Things take a turn for the worse when Preston is deployed and one of his teammates is killed in action. There is a leak somewhere as no one was supposed to know where his Seal team was.
He is approached by his CO as he has no family and ends up being a ghost op and anyone who knew him believes he was also KIA. Lila learns she is pregnant but can't seem to get ahold of Preston to let him know. A chaplain assists her and lets her know Preston was killed in action.
Her life takes on some major financial issues with both her pregnancy and after her son is born, he requires surgery. She ends up taking a loan from an unsavory character in order to pay her bills and keep up.
She comes into an inheritance from an uncle, pays off her debt and decides to go back to the cabin with her son Parker for Christmas. Unknowingly, Preston also comes back on leave, but with a different name and is in cabin right next to hers. She ends up seeing him and is so shocked she just can't comprehend that he is alive.
They end up reconnecting with each other and Preston can't believe he is a father.
This book has lots of twists and turns, suspense, romance, and of course a HEA.

This was a heart warming, touching book with a mystery component that really grabbed my attention. The connection between the MCs was so obvious, yet the struggle so clear, that my heart broke for them even while I rooted for a HEA for the family unit.
There was so much going on throughout that it would be easy to miss something, or dismiss it as unimportant. EVERYTHING wa important. The emotional reconnecting, the physical encounters, the dangers...everything! I did feel that Lila was jealous of the connection Parker was making with Preston though. She continually referred to him as "her" son, when he was both of theirs (despite what she may have put on his birth certificate!). Sorry, that's a big pet peeve of mine. It's intentionally leaving one parent out of the equation. It's not like Preston knew about any of this when he was forced to choose.
The way the book wrapped everything up was fitting. Readers get the answers to all their questions, with no dangling threads. And it was definately a feel good, Christmas worthy ending. I am greatful to have received an ARC of this book, and voluntarily provide this review. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the resort this holiday, and recommend others take the journey too. Happy Reading Y'all 📚
Lila Holden and Navy SEAL Preston Lawson had a fling before he went back into the service. When she finds out she is pregnant, she cannot reach Preston to tell him. A Chaplain finally told her that records showed he was killed in action. That was actually a mistake, but it enabled him to go into a BlackOps team since he had no family that would miss him.
When the holidays came around, Preston returns to the place he had met Lila and fallen in love with her. To his surprise – and hers – he sees she is there! And he sees the son he never knew about! But there is still another danger to be faced. A mafia gangster had lost his son when the woman he married found out who he was and drove herself and his son off a bridge to escape him. Mr. Capaldi, a bit “unhinged”, tries to replace his lost son by attempting to kidnap any other who reminds him of the boy. He had seen Lila and her son Parker, and he showed excessive interest in the child. Will Preston be there to protect Lila from being killed and Parker from being kidnapped when the bad guy sends his lethal enforcer after them? Will Lila and Preston have a chance to become the family they were meant to be? Or would that all be taken away from them?

The last person Preston thought to see again at the cabin was the one he left behind when he joined the Black Ops group and disappeared. Even more it couldn’t disregard the little boy she had with her and the implications that would have on his life.
Lila thought Preston was dead and he unexpected appearance at their place leaves her in a position that she doesn’t know how to maneuver. She’s always loved him but opening her and Parker’s heart to him could have even more devastating results than the first time.
In the mix of them trying to figure out how to move forward Lila keeps having accidents that don’t make sense. Preston believes that someone is trying to kill her. As he works to keep her and Parker safe he realizes that the future may not look like he always believed it would. Can they find their way back to each other and if they do will Lila survive to see it.
This was a wonderful story of love, forgiveness and perseverance. I look forward to more from these authors.

This SEAL second chance romance was a really great read. If I’m going to read a contemporary romance, I would rather it be a suspense or thriller style, and this was definitely a great suspense book. Preston and Lila are a cute couple, and their reunion is not all roses and happiness. They work back into things slowly, which I liked. I also liked the mystery around the “accidents” happening around them, though the culprit was pretty obvious to me from the beginning.
The characters are likeable and down to earth, and I really enjoyed the book, and while I might know who was behind things and why, I was still invested in finding out what happened and how things would be resolved. If I had one complaint, it would be that I wanted a little more backstory on both of them, and a better motivation for the villain. Or at least maybe more solid foundation for the beginning of all the drama. (I’m trying not to spoil anything!)
If you enjoy military/SEAL romances and second chance romances, I think you’d definitely enjoy this one!
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for allowing me to read this book in advance!
A couple of years ago, Navy SEAL Preston Lawson rented a cabin at a resort after a devastating loss during a mission. Whom he never expected to meet and fall for in just a short time was Lila, a waitress at the resort who was staying at the cabin next to him. They said their good-byes but when she finds out she’s pregnant, Lila goes searching for him. She finally is told he died in combat, leaving her determine to bring up her child on her own. But in reality , Preston is alive. A clerical error declared him KIA. Something the government chose to take advantage of and now is working black ops. Once again needing a break, he returns to the only place he was truly happy, the resort where he met Lila. Imagine his shock when he discovers Lila and a little boy are renting a cabin as well. Was this fate? What happens when it in the midst of this reunion, someone seems to want Lila dead? Will Preston decide to guard her? If he succeeds, will he leave her behind once again? This is a story about second chances in life and love. One with an engaging plot and well developed characters. I was entrusted a copy of this book by Hidden Gems . The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Navy SEAL Preston is dead.
I loved this second chance romance! The characters and story are well written. Leslie North can write a steamy romance and I am always excited to read her newest book!
Thanks to NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was a full read with some great writing. This couple experience loss and happiness but feel like hope isn't something they can both ask for. They are both good people but had duty and stubbornness, not to mention a stalker on their hands.
She had wanted him to choose her, then heard he had passed. Luckily they found one another again but with one little addition to their world. And she had someone trying to actively harm her.
She took his leaving better than I would have! I cannot image being with someone who had no intention of sticking around. Then finding yourself pregnant and believing he'd passed? She was already in this world pretty much alone, how sad. Seeing him again...again, she is stronger than me. I would have been even more angry and less forgiving. After all, he knew she was alive all this time. Just finding out she had his kid? And what? She's not chopped liver to him, by any means. He clearly cares for her. But still, she was enough to stick around for. The little one is a delight! The mystery and the action made for a well rounded tale. And the HEA? Well deserved!
Neither the head nor the heart have got anything on fate Snowed In With The SEAL by Katie Knight is a really wonderful second chance read. I really love holiday romances, but add in a second chance, secret baby and a military Hero? That's the golden ticket for this reader. The characters are really wonderful too. Lila is the quintessential single mom and then some. Preston is extremely conflicted between his wants, needs and responsibilities to his service. His dedication is commendable, but also to his detriment. The push, pull between Preston, Lila and his responsibilities keeps the reader on edge throughout. Overall, this second chance for Preston and Lila is so much more; there's a mystery along with a bit of suspense and danger on top too not to mention the emotional turmoil their reunion incites. Through it all, this couple experiences a visceral need to be together and find a way to become the family they both need, want and deserve. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Coming back to where it all started! This is about Lila and Preston. They had a fling one year, knowing that he was going back into the service, but during that time, she fell in love with him and asked him to promise to contact her once as she had no close family, and her brother had died in the military. He couldn't make her the promise but would try. Months later, she finds out that she is pregnant, but trying to let him know is impossible until a Chaplin helps her and she finds out he died in service. Fast forward a couple of years, and she is finally making it out okay when she ends up meeting a man who is involved with the Mafia, and her life is now in danger. Preston comes into the picture during this time and realizes that he needs to explain why he is still alive. There is plenty of action here as they try to kill her several times as they want to kidnap their son Parker, but Preston is not having any of it even if the assassin is military trained.

The time she spent with Navy SEAL Preston Lawson, before his deployment, was everything she hoped for. Lila Holden, having lost her parents and brother, has no one but now she has beautiful memories of her time with Preston. She loves him, but knows she may never see him again. She is shocked when she realizes that she is pregnant with his child. Trying to contact him, she is devastated to learn that he was killed in action. Her grief is unbearable, but she must go on for their child. Preston is unaware that he was listed as killed in action, but now needs to remain “dead” to find out who compromised their mission. How will he react when he comes face to face with Lila and his son? How will she react to learn that he is alive? After she suffers several near accidents, were they accidents or is someone trying to kill her? Very enjoyable romantic suspense, especially his time getting to know his son. Addicted to the storyline of Preston and Lila right from the beginning and kept on the edge until the terrific ending. Amazing backstories and chemistry, strength to fight for family and determination to protect. These two reconnect some years after a short fling at the same resort and lose track of each other. He is mistakenly listed as killed in action and that is what she finds so she is all alone. He is in the perfect position for a secret job, but when they find each other, he has to tell her something about why he is alive. She has to tell him about their son Parker. Intense situations and danger around every turn from a surprising source. Can Preston keep it together and keep them safe? Will he call in for help? Will he be able to keep hold of them with his secret job? Will she find a connection and home in him? Amazing characters and storyline that you will not be able to let go of. Still thinking about the story a week later.

OK so this book definitely was a cute book and I will definitely recommend this because it wasn’t just heartfelt but it was really realistic and honestly it has just the right drama to where It kept you keep turning the pages and wanting you to read over and over again. However, I feel like with the drama that she added is OK I just feel like the writer forgot to add the fact only sharing why he wanted the baby and I know he said it look like his son but I feel why is because the main character probably was his actual son and didn’t even know. So if that was that, I think the book would’ve been all around a five star book and definitely way worth the read even though it’s still worth the read right now and I would definitely recommend it to Reid because I had just around the mouth of being actually relatable and romantic and hides a lot of drama let alone a lot of spice so it’s definitely worth the treat treat.

The SEAL's Christmas Baby 29 Oct. 2019 Preston and Lila get together before he's sent off on a mission. She finds out she's pregnant and then, that he died on the mission. Three years later she returns to where they met, and meets a ghost. The chemistry between them is amazing. Parker is a great little character, and there's quite a bit of suspense. First of all, I loved this book however, I must say that I KNOW I have read this same story (maybe different characters) one other time. I don't know if this is a re-release or if another author may have done a similar story... For this story, Preston and Lila meet and have an unexpected and whirlwind romance up until the time Preston has to return to his SEAL unit. A mission goes horribly wrong, and he is mistakenly listed as KIA and then is sent deep undercover to find who compromised that mission. Meanwhile, back on the Homefront, Lila finds herself with an unexpected pregnancy while mourning Preston and her hopes for the future. Fast forward years later and they unexpectedly meet again as they both return to the lodge where they fell in love to celebrate Christmas and old memories. Yes, they eventually get their HEA but the road to that happiness is rocky, dangerous and very uncertain.
