My end goal’s been the same from day one, and that is to build my Merchant Empire. But although I’ve now become the new Governor of Karlton—a position I had to accept in order to appease the King and keep Lord Reinley in power—unfortunately, that did nothing to advance my plans. What I need is to unlock the Merchant Class, but the requirements are steep to say the least. If I do have the infrastructure needed, as well as the levels, I’m far from generating enough revenue to qualify. And that’s a bummer because I’m currently sitting on a good chunk of XP that I saved for after I’ve gained my new class. So I guess I’ll just have to do what I do look for new business opportunities. If my shop, Adventure Awaits, isn’t getting enough visitors, I’ll bring my wares to them! Join me as I open up new trade routes with nearby cities and search to add a wand wing to my store. Join me as I keep expanding the influence of House Landon, in a journey that will lead me to a strange floating city plunged into a civil war, and back into the Karl where a mysterious well might spell the end for all of us down in New Valley. But you know me, where there’s danger, there’s opportunity, right?
Author fucking needs to attend some business courses to get an understanding about economies of scale, especially if he's going to write EMPIRE BUILDING books for fuck sakes.
Deposits 30,000 gold in the bank and invests 10,000 in 2 other businesses. Oh, the bank doesn't give loans but pays out interest. Wasn't he selling 15,000 gold potions a pop in the last book?
He bought a productive vineyard with existing contracts with the ruling class nobility for mere 5,000. Lmao oh and the said noble wanted to buy that vineyard to save her own life, but she never took any action until he purchased it. He was promptly offended 20,000 lol
It's interesting and funny but honestly it's like an endless paragraph that just runs in and on. It's like the idea for a plot just got lost somewhere and it's more about filling it with back to back events
Book 4 and Artemis is still wheeling and dealing and maybe saving his girlfriend. He is still getting pulled into crazy life threatening situations and he only just barely escapes. A wild ride with a typical workaholic entrepreneur. Lots of fun, craziness, and spells/runes to keep you entertained. One book to go in this series. Should be interesting on how it finishes up.
I have my moments with Artemis … but overall, the books do get better and the cognizant disconnects are less galling, or I guess you get used to them. After finding a room full of gold… yep, lets make a map to that locale and start selling it. But, yeah, overall getting better.
This is a great addition to the Runesmith Trails series. The story seems to take off and I like that all of Artemis’s adventurers don’t end in automatic victory or success. He has to work and struggle to get what he wants and solves his problems with his bargaining skills more often than raw strength. I’d recommend this book to anyone.
I have never played an actual RPG, but the more I read of them, I might just do it! Thanks to the author for 4 entertaining reads...can't wait for volume 5!
