There is no such thing as writer's Block. This is something that I believed up until I got the coronavirus. Once I got sick, I lost the clarity I needed, and it frightened me. So when Honoree Corder came out with this new book, I was excited. One thing that I can always count on is that what Honoree writes about writing is something I need. And this book didn't disappoint.
I love the exercises included. I found myself going deep and searching for answers to questions I developed based on the book. After completing each chapter and doing the exercises, I got more clarity. I love her honesty, and I also love that she pulled the curtain back on what can cause us to lose our flow. There were many tidbits of information and examples of how you could restructure your day, life, and viewpoint to meet your goals.
This book is not just for writers. The way that she approached personal blocks, I think, applies to anyone who finds themselves stuck where they previously flowed. I did a lot of highlighting and made some notes, and I love that I got so much out of this book. I will try some of the things that she suggested that I don't think will change my writing flow so much as it will change me as a writer.
I think that's what's great about this book. The author gets really honest, and she looks at potential drawbacks and then tells you how to flip them so they become not negative but positive. For example, once you figure out what is stopping you, you can go forward. But you have to do the work, and I think that's what this whole book was about—getting honest with yourself, identifying the situation, and doing the work. I highly recommend Honoree’s book!
This book is absolutely fantastic! I had a horrible family tragedy took place back in March. My writing was on a complete halt since then. Thanks to this amazing book, I am now writing every day.
