Once you get past the numerous run-on sentences (he could probably have benefited from a better proofreader / editor) it's an enjoyable read from a fan who's really been there and seen it all. You can tell that it's written by someone who grew up on pre-Premier League football, but props that he doesn't dissolve in the second half of the book into whining about modern-day nuisances and all that stuff that's become characteristic of people of similar ilk. There are some judgments that feel a bit dated (glad that he acknowledges his Hillsborough mistake, although it was hard reading in the beginning) but overall a fun book well worth a read if you're a United fan.

En este libro Pete hace un recuento de la motivación para llevar a cabo su protesta. Sin embargo eso es apenas una pequeña parte de la historia de un verdadero aficionado, un hombre que desde muy joven comenzó a seguir a su equipo "a todas partes". Desde la gloria europea en Wembley en 1968 hasta la despedida de Sir Alex en el 2013, pasando por una profunda debacle que llevó al club al descenso, años de mediocridad , el regreso de los títulos y otras cuatro finales de Europa.

He leído libros sobre Manchester United desde muchas perspectivas, sin embargo éste es especial. Éste es el libro. Porque combinando muy bien la historia del club con las vivencias del aficionado nos entrega memorables momentos que arrancan sonrisas y a veces hasta lágrimas. La afición de Pete lo lleva a los lugares más lejanos en un viaje del cual como lector no me puedo despegar y como aficionado no puedo sino sentir envidia. Es también una interesante visión de la historia de Inglaterra durante las décadas que abarca el libro incluyendo la violencia en el fútbol y como hasta aquellos que solo querían disfrutar del deporte se vieron envueltos sin querer.

A pesar que se podría tildar al autor de oportunista, no hay nada de éso aquí. "Ta ra Fergie" es un libro hecho con mucho cuidado y cariño, que nos hace recordar porqué nos gusta el fútbol.
