I really enjoyed reading Lincoln by Rubi Jade. I actually wish it wasn't a short story and more of an indepth book. It was easy to get sucked in by her Main Characters and their love story. It's a quick read but you will not regret it! Good Work Rubi
More Protective Alphas than you can shake a stick at!
What do I love more than a novella??? A whole collection of them!! And in PROTECT MY HEART this was exactly what I was happy to lay my hands on with this latest release from a talented group on authors who make up The Romance Cafe.
Ranging from cute and sweet through to bold and hot, these protective alphas put the loves of their lives first even through the real fear, not of physical danger, but of love's rejection.
There are more tropes here than any reader could wave a romantic stick at, Friends-to-Lovers, Boss-Employee, Firemen, Ex-Military, Bodyguards, Unexpected Pregnancies and babies arriving on doorsteps right along with my personal favourite: Second Chances.
These are all short entertaining novellas that I love individually from authors I already admire, yes Ryleigh Sloane, I'm looking at you, AND from new-to-me authors who's novella snippets I really enjoyed.
The Romance Cafe always puts together a great reading range of tastes and PROTECT MY HEART is one such example. These heroes and their love interests deserve a happy ending and because we're reading romance we know an HEA is in order. What we don't know is the journey taken and the hot intense scenes visited along the way. What I can tell you now is that if instant gratification is what you're after, or if you what to squeeze in a complete story in your lunch or any down time, then this is the way to go.
Great reading, great fun and some great stories, I think it’s well worth the reading time. 4.5 Stars 🧡❤️💛
I love me a suspenseful story from someone I haven't read before so I knew I had to get my eyes on Protect my Heart. While I haven't picked through the entire collection yet here's what I've read so far:
SAFE HAVEN- Joel and Tille burn as hot as the fire they're running from. While I would've liked a little more sorting out their past, there is nothing like your life being on the line to put what you really want into perspective.
STRING OF PASSION - I liked Bella. Yes, she was famous and in the public eye but she was equal parts reserved and kind and crushing hard on her head of security, Javier. I liked how she relaxed with him and went after what she wanted.
GUARDED BY LOVE - I liked how ex lovers Amy and James teamed up to bring justice where it was needed. Especially since it was a cop and defense attorney, two worlds that shouldn't have collided anywhere besides the courtroom.
CODE SILVER - A journalist quasi on the run from dangerous hackers...yes please. Ani was smart and brave and going out of her mind being on lockdown. It didn't hurt that the main guy in charge of it was Troy. While the writing was on the wall with who could've been involved in all the mayhem GSU was facing, I still flew though this one. Not a lot of romance but the showdown and gesture towards the end were great.
I'm looking forward to finishing the rest of these stories soon!
4.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨ I was immediately drawn into this book from the very first page, Ryleighs writing has a way, that there is no bland page in the book. I loved reading about Vi, Craig and their story. My heart shattered while reading about Vi's mom and the firestation. If I could have the ability to jump into a book, and give a character the affirmation and hug they need, I would've done it immediately.
This was such a quick read, honestly because I couldn't put it down. I rate it 4.5, only because it was not long enough, I wanted more of their story, I wanted it to carry on and on. That's the thing about good books, they end too quick.
Protect My Heart is a steamy collection from USA Today best-selling and award-winning romance authors curated by The New Romance Café.

Wonderful stories! I love the 'men in uniform ' trope, and this anthology has me so satisfied!
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This anthology will have everything you want in a book. Several novellas that will have your heart and panties melting. Characters that you will fall in love with and most importantly new authors that you may have never read and will not binge all they have. I loved each couple as they navigated their lives and their hopes and dreams. Sometimes there was tragedy and sometimes the love was so much more. Come have a complete hangover with these amazing characters.
And she did it again, if Ryleigh writes it I will read it. This was so amazing, the characters of Violet (Vi) and Craig were just so sweet together.
The representation of abandonment and truma in Vi's character was done so well and just seeing how she is changing her life and how she is bettering herself from where she came from was so good.
You know it's a good book when you start it and just can't put it down and that's exactly what this read was. I just wish it was long I need more of Craig and Vi.
This is your anthology if you like to read about others being protected, saved and/or rescued. I especially enjoyed No Rough Handling by Gabbi Grey, where Hallstein has a unique assignment and encounters outgoing Myles. Burned Innocence by Heather Osborne finds Rick and Emily saving each other in different ways. Every story in this book was worth reading and I thoroughly enjoyed them all.
I had the privilege of ARC reading Abandoned Hearts by Ryleigh Sloan. I really enjoyed it. The relationship between the characters is so enjoyable and the twist that happens really shocked me, I did not expect it. I had to read the sentence 3 or 4 times. By the last chapter I was reading so fast that when I read the last sentence I was highly upset that there wasn't more.
I am happy to say that I had the honor to read the ARC for Ryleigh Sloan - Protect my Heart.
I loved the short story and wish there was more to read of their future. Just as you get attached to the characters the story is over, but it is a sweet and sad one all together. Feeling the love he has for her is amazing.
I really enjoyed “No Rough Handling” by Gabbi Grey, a steamy M/M story involving a bodyguard and a precious vase needed as a prop on a film set. Sparks fly between Hallstein, a former RCMP officer, and Myles, the set decorator with the film company… I love the protector trope any way I can get it, and when the feels are there to back up the steam, it’s golden.
Wow such a sweet story, good for a quick read. A bit of spice, but what I liked the most is all real life problems Ryleigh put in her books. Will recommend to contemporary romance lovers that need a quick in-between book.
Oh my god, I really enjoyed Abandoned Hearts by Ryleigh Sloan. It was amazing. I couldn't stop myself from smiling at Craig and Violet. I wish it was a bit longer, though, because I connected with these characters, but Ryleigh's writing is definitely the best.
Great compilation of short stories about alpha protecting Heros! They are well written and great for when you want to read but don't have a lot of time to do it. I really enjoyed it!
Great collection of romance stories from 20 awesome authors. Has romance, suspense, intrigue, angst, drama, and twists. Interesting characters from all life styes (anyone from a fireman to hitman).
Amazing boxset to read. Couldn't put it down. Highly recommend it. Will come back a later date and break it down but I can say all stories are 4 stars to 5 stars. And overly I give it 5 stars
A perfect and quick read that truly packs a punch and leaves you wanting more❤️💕 Spice, romance, a huge plot twist and a happy ending…what more could you want ??😍 Well done Ryleigh!!!!!!❤️
I was very lucky to receive an early copy of this story by @author.ryleighsloan, thanks to @pen_to_platform_publicity 🥰
Even though this was a part of an anthology, I enjoyed every second of it. There were some surprises that actually had me audibly gasping twice from the same page 🤣
If you enjoy sweet MCs who also know when to be bad, then you'll love Protect my heart.
I started this Anthology with Abandoned Hearts by Ryleigh as she is an Author buy author for me!
Craig and Violets story was absolutely sweet, romantic and swoon worthy for days!!
Violet steps up when Craig's ex leaves their unknown child at his doorstep claiming she no longer wants anything to do with the baby. (Craig had no idea she was even pregnant!)
Craig being deployed, finds this out via telephone. His feelings for Violet erupt into Atomic magnitude, all he wants his to get home and figure all of this out.
When Craig gets home and sees how Violet has already adapted and fallen for his child, he knows exactly what he needs to do...
Ah Ryleigh has written this in such a way you want a whole bonus chapter or whole book even just to get Craig and Violets entire story!
Brilliant read and I can't wait to dig into the rest of these short stories!
This protect My Heart Anthology is the perfect palette cleanser- feel-good reads offering you need.
How I enjoyed this collection full of beautiful stories. All the characters in each book held your attention from the start. They deal with drama, romance, sadness, danger, attraction and chemistry and a second chance. I definitely recommend reading this collection.
I received an Advance Reader sample of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Love. Love. Loved this collection of short stories. I mean who doesn’t love a good romance with strong protective characters and you get more than one in this collection. I thought the first one was going to be my favorite story but I honestly don’t think I can decide now. They truly all are amazingly good. I was disappointed when I realized I had finished the last story because I wanted more. They reminded me of the Harlequin Romance books I would read when I was younger and just getting started with romance novels. They don’t really go into detail with the spicy stuff but it’s there.- Elizabeth
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this collection of short stories all about heroes protecting the special people in their lives. Several new authors that I will be looking for more of their books. I really enjoyed how even though the stories were short they had plenty of depth and wonderful characters. So many good stories it is hard to pick a fave but I loved reading The Hitman and the Dogsitter by Lisabel Chretien, Vow of Honour by Bonnie Poirier and I'm Keeping you by Bella Paige. Definitely a must read collection that brought hours of enjoyment.
I received a free copy of this book via Sofia's Cowboy Romance Lovers and am voluntarily leaving a review.
We have been given a wonderful selection of stories with this collection. Each story pulls us into the lives of the characters with regrets, connection, second chances, danger, realizations and steam.

This is another wonderful collection of short stories and the theme was strong and protective men looking after those they love. Swoony ;D With some new to me authors, like Bella Paige and Rubi Jade, and some old faves, such as Annee Jones and Heather Osborne, I can't really pick a favorite story ;P So fun to have this kind of dilemma. Lol!
This is a good collection of stories to read if you like trouble and the heroes that come to help and save the day. Easy to read and fun to watch these alphas step up and do their thing to protect and save the day. Each one was a bit different and while I liked some better then others, each one was fun and interesting to read. And enjoyed seeing who would save the day in each story and how it would be done.
