Science and study were the only important things to me. My life was a series of equations and problems to unlock, until Mom got sick. I had no choice but to go home and step into her shoes - to help when she needed me. I cooked, I cleaned, and I looked after my family. We went to church on Sundays, and I listened to quiet prayers for a miracle cure so I could get back to my own life. But I knew it wouldn’t come. That’s where I met him. He spoke of math and truth, and he flattered me with words that made me blush. What came after that destroyed everything I knew.
Knox Cortez took my innocence and shattered it. Aggressive. Sharp. Brutal. It made no sense to fall in love with the devil. And it made no sense to kill a man, either. But, somehow, I did both.
Note: The House Of Skin Series deals with themes some may be uncomfortable with. These are bad men who make no apologies for their particular trade.
Hailing from the depths of the quiet British countryside, Charlotte likes nothing better than sinking into her characters dark and devious world's. Sometimes they're kinky, sometimes they're twisted, and sometimes they're a serious hold on tight situation, but her stories are always filled with romance and love in some form.
This author-writing team totally managed to knock it out of the park with their latest instalment in the House of Skin series. Together these two are truly a power-house of such deadly deliciousness and this one is dark depraved as hell and chock full to the brim of descriptive morally skewed dark deeds. House of Skin is definitely a series about bad people that do truly questionable and amoral things and book four was the darkest to date, but it’s also a story about the latent humanity lurking beneath the skin of the monster and this time we get up close and personal with another Cortez sibling Knox.
So Knox and Peyton couldn’t be more different, he’s a criminal with a skewed moral compass and she’s a PhD student home from her studies to care for her ailing mother, she has no idea initially just who she is potentially climbing into bed with and just what that now means for her, Knox’s appearance in Peyton’s life is the catalyst that causes everything in hers to go to absolute shit. Previous events have accumulated and each act has had a cause and effect the resulting ripples meaning that Peyton is now trapped in a living nightmare, literal hell, Where the cause of her pain is also her only protection.
This deals with that pain and also the aftermath, especially regarding how Peyton and Knox both now deal with their new emerging feelings. As Peyton becomes more aware of just what Knox is she struggles to reconcile her fragile emotions with her own conscience. Whilst with Knox his whole world has been turned on its head and he’s never been so conflicted, especially considering what he usually does for a day job and all of the lingering guilt he has for Peyton and his usual everyday life, well the two just don’t correlate well.
This isn’t a fluffy feel-good love story it’s dark, gritty and shows us that even a monster has a heart buried way down deep, be aware though that this series deals with some extremely dark themes and it makes no apologies for this fact. it’s not for those who want a hero to ride to the rescue, this one is for all of us girlies who fixate on the villain of the piece which Knox most definitely is. Also, be aware nobody is getting redeemed here or having an epiphany just a heads up and definitely check your triggers as this one’s pitch black.
This moved along the overall story and opened up new avenues going forward. It wasn’t always an easy read and I was in a constant state of tension and shock throughout anticipating the worst. It was as usual brilliantly written and incredibly engrossing edge-of-your-seat stuff. There was stuff here that totally shocked me and I didn't see coming. I definitely recommend reading this series especially if you like dark twisty unpredictable sagas set in the criminal underbelly but again I can’t emphasise enough the level of dark here know your own limits.
House of Skin needs to be read in order as there’s an ongoing story vein running throughout, it’s not essential you read the other connected series set in the same world but I do recommend checking them out as this will definitely enhance the whole experience and a heads up, they are also really good. If you do want to start at the beginning start with the Cane’s but otherwise, you can just read House of Skin as a stand-alone series no problem. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of When Sinners Fear.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
When Sinners Fear continues the dark but entertaining and addictive House of Skin series. The fact the Cortez family enamoured me shows how far down the rabbit hole I have gone with this series. Kudos to the authors for creating compelling and complex anti-heroes. This is a family that lives in a dark and dangerous world. A world where women are treated as chattels and sold for profit. A world where the Cortez family word is law.....and one where death is sure to find you if you attempt to double-cross them. If dark romance is your jam, then the House of Skin series will make a great addition to your reading list.
I have been following the series from the start and this is the darkest and most brutal one so far. It's definitely not for the faint-hearted. When Sinners Fear gives us Knox Cortez and Peyton Summer's story. Knox, the brilliant one with the eidetic memory, the brother who deals with the financial aspect of the family's operations. Don't be fooled, he's just as cold and deadly as his brothers. One should despise him, but somehow before the story concludes, readers will find themselves falling for yet another Cortez brother.
When Sinners Fear delivered a compelling tale. It tells a story of two people from different worlds forced into a dangerous situation where they had no choice, but to rely on each other for survival. A situation where despite its brutal, scary and cringe worthy moments led to the development of unexpected romantic feelings.
Peyton is a sweet and innocent young woman who demonstrated courage throughout the story. She took a leave of absence from her PhD studies to help in the care of her mom. Unknown to her, she caught the eye of one of the most dangerous criminals. Knox love his women pure and untouched. He is not looking for a long term relationship, and Peyton would satisfy his hunger. His decision to take her on a date would change the trajectory of both their lives in the most unpleasant of ways. Because of his sister's actions in the previous book, When Sinners Dare, Knox and Peyton paid dearly.
The person responsible for their pain, misery and humiliation ended up paying dearly with his life. He deserved it after what he put Peyton true, and to think before all of this I was hoping he would escape the Cortez wrath. This one definitely test your boundaries, so heed the trigger warnings.
Knox is not one to feel empathy for women, given the type of business he conducts. As such his need to protect Peyton from their tormentors confuses him. He does it anyway and in the best way he could, given their circumstances. Right there and then, one recognises that he does have a heart. This was further highlighted in his show of guilt and remorse for what he had to do to ensure Peyton survived the ordeal. They both struggled with accepting their feelings for each other.
The first half of the book detailed their meeting and the ordeal they went through. The second half dealt with the after-effects of their horrifying experience. The second half was a little tamer, with the author's infusing some sweet moments which will leave readers with a smile. I sure love that lovely surprise, which brought out Knox's softer side.
When Sinners Fear was another great addition to the series.
I've said it before with the previous books but I still feel the same way... how do I like these characters?! Charlotte and Rachel have taken us on quite a journey with the Cortez family. It's horrific and bloody. Their souls must be black, right? The way they weaved the stories I begrudgingly found moments where I LIKED each of the siblings and Knox was no different. I've read each of the books with one eye open but this one I read only during the day for a few days. It was too intense to read at night before I went to sleep. Knox is a man nightmares are made of. Heck, they all are! But there's something really compelling about him. I will not admit that I swooned. Nope! 🤣 Peyton, dear lord! My poor heart worried itself sick for her. I loved her and was really happy to see how true to herself she stayed. This series has become my favorite dark romance series ever!
"And if there’s one thing I’ve learnt about this family, it’s that when they love, they love hard. Pretty impressive for a bunch of mercenary assholes.”
They say revenge is sweet... Nope, not for the Cortez family, it's ruthless, cold and deadly.
When Sinners Fear is a continuation of The House of Skin series. To put it bluntly, it's brutal at times and not for the faint hearted. There are trigger warnings for a reason. Hart de Lune have not held back with this one and for that I'm glad. There is no cloaking The Cortez family and the book is better for seeing their truths. They are bad people and give no apologies about it, so how these clever authors can make us readers like them, sympathise with them and even love them is an incredible skill!
I'm not sure where to start with Knox and Peytons journey. Some would say Knox got exactly what was coming to him, but Peyton certainly didn't. My heart broke for her especially, but also for Knox, for what they were forced to endure. It was cruel, callous and vicious, but we saw Knox's hidden layers emerge from behind his emotionless wall. I couldn't help love Knox, despite everything he did and how he makes his money. He's my favourite Cortez yet. In fact I think him and Peyton are my favourite couple in this series. She was so sweet, innocent, intelligent and naive to start with, but showed such strength, courage and resilience against the odds.
Knox especially fought the bonds that were formed under such forced proximity. Guilt, emotion and the need to protect were confusing and unwanted. I loved this and how despite it all, they just seemed to get closer. It was push pull, angsty compelling reading.
You're in for a hell of a ride with this one. This series is getting better and better and darker and darker. Loved it!!
This was the darkest book yet out of them all, i absolutely devoured this book it was deliciously dark and the abuse that was happening to these two characters is not for the faint hearted. These Cortez brothers are brutal but when it comes to the women they love they are fearless.
My heart broke for Peyton and what she got court up in being out with Knox on a date, she certainly didn't deserve any of the torture that happened to her, Knox yes he did but even saying that you do feel for him for what he was made to do to Payton. This couple will grow on you through out this story where heartbreak is just around the corner.
You will love this book if dark is your go to story's to read, it will keep you reading far into the night with how this story was unfolding. Superb story line that kept me turning the pages. 5 dark stars.
I have loved every single one of these books from Reed’s book all the way up to Abel and Lexi’s book! Then I read Knox and Payton’s book!!! Wow wow talk about heart wrenching! Peyton and Knox’s story is one for the books! It starts out as something simple to a raw all consuming love!
Science, maths and truths. This story is very dark and cruel at times. Get ready. I love Hart de Lune’s books. Peyton comes home from education to look after her mum and family as her mum is very ill. Her mum and dad are religious. Peyton is introduced at church to Knox Cortez. They go on a few dates and then they get kidnapped. The kidnapping is cruel and the things they have to do is not for the faint of heart. Knox and Peyton have a hot and cold relationship but Knox does this to keep her safe. The epilogue OMG. Absolutely enjoyed this book. Can’t wait to see what Hart de Lune come up next.
The House of Sin series is filled with bad, bad men who have questionable morals and are guilty of horrific crimes, but they deserve love too!
I have no idea how I keep a soft spot for them. It's the other side of a dark and dangerous world. A world where women are commodities and treated as such. A world where your actions can very quickly cost you your life. A world where you should be wary of crossing the Cortezes.
When Sinners Fear, book 4 in the series, is a very apt title for Knox and Peyton's story. Throughout the book, I held on to a fear that not everything would be alright. Knox and Peyton felt that fear as well. There were times when all seemed lost, and the way forward was nowhere near. That fear kept me gripped in its talons. Never letting go!
Knox's story blew me away! It shocked me in ways I was not prepared for. The Cortez brothers are ruthless when they need to be, but they still have a beating heart that melts just a little when it comes to their women. They go above and beyond to protect them, but I was not expecting Knox's brand of protection.
Peyton found herself drawn to a man who wasn't looking for a woman, yet somehow, she managed to get him to see a side of himself that surprised even him. Peyton struggled with her loyalties, her family bonds, her beliefs and morals, yet she held her head high and remained true to herself. Although he was forced to hurt her, he still protected her as best he could. It was painful to read, but I was obsessed with the story and couldn't put it down.
The story went into some dark spaces, yet still, I held a torch for Knox. His and Peyton's relationship is their own, and I feel the authors did an amazing job at helping the reader understand that relationship and accept them as they were able to accept themselves. I also commend the authors for their writing skills with those dark and brutal scenes. Enough is left to the imagination that my heart was not totally ripped out even though my brain knew the truth.
With the death of one "mainish" character, I was left feeling a little hollow, not sad since he deserved it, but betrayed by his previous caring acts. There was a time when I held a soft spot for him, but his behavior, which led to his demise, had me wondering where that other side of him went, as he showed none of it this time around. The line between good and evil is very thin in this series and you may have to leave your moral compass at the door, but authors Charlotte Hart and Rachel De Lune are killing it with these stories. They pushed the boundaries with When Sinners Fear, and I have every confidence that the readers who love dark, mafia romance will fall for this one.
When Sinners Fear is book four in the House Of Skin series by Hart De Lune. We are reacquainted with the Cortez family and get little snippets to remind us what happened in the previous books. This story is about the middle brother Knox, the clever one with the photographic memory who looks after the planning and finances of the family business. He is just as cold and ruthless as his brothers so another Cortez you shouldn’t like, but the authors somehow give him some redeeming qualities by the end. There have been arguments within the family over their revenge plans for their brothers murder and when Mariana forced the issue, I knew there would be some retaliation for her actions but I didn’t expect what actually happens.
A fascinating and compelling story about a couple who should have never met. They are both very intelligent people but from completely different worlds. Knox is dark and dangerous and Peyton is sweet and innocent. This is not an easy read by any means because it is sinister, shocking and will make you squirm and shudder so you should definitely adhere to the trigger warnings. I think it is the darkest tale these authors have written but it fits this unapologetically evil family.
The story unfolds in sections. The first part is intriguing as we learn about Knox’s interest in an innocent young woman. Peyton has put her phD on hold and come home to look after her mother. We start to get an inkling into what Knox is up to but no-one anticipates the turn of events when he takes her on a date. The next part is them facing the consequences of Marianna’s actions and then we get the aftermath of their horrendous experience. The authors finish the story with how much the events have changed them both and give us a couple of surprises for the Cortez family.
The couple draw you in and keep you there with them the whole time - during the good and the bad moments. Knox has never shows any empathy or care towards the women they traffic so suddenly feeling something totally confuses him. The couple are pushed to their limits but find a connection to be able to withstand and survive what they go through. He ends up protecting her in the only way he knows how and slowly reveals a heart under his hard exterior. The romance is a twisted slow burn affair as they try to accept their feelings for each other.
I still felt sad for Kai as he has changed so much to cope with the life he now leads which allows him to love Mariana. Dante is still with Wren in Cuba for similar reasons but I’m not sure how long his brothers will put up with him being away. It was also fun seeing characters from the authors other series. One thing that stood out was how the authors concentrated on the couple’s thoughts so the reader could understand what they are going through. Peyton’s journey is a hard one and the affects will last forever but she showed a remarkable strength as she battles her way through everything. Their relationship started badly and there were many obstacles to overcome, but the epilogue made me giggle as another brother succumbed and fell hard.
Although this is very dark and brutal in places, don’t be worried as there is light at the end of the tunnel. There is banter and funny conversations mixed with poetry quotations. I ended up laughing and it made the horrific events from the start of the story fade away. They may not agree on who their siblings have falling in love with but there is no doubting the family loyalty and togetherness when someone hurts one of their own. I presume we get Shaw next but also there are hints that the Canes could become more involved which will prove interesting.
When Sinners Fall is the fourth book in the dark and disturbing, but addictive and compelling, House of Skin series by Charlotte E Hart and Rachel De Lune. We’ve been waiting for Knox’s book and we were not disappointed, it had us reading from cover to cover in nearly one sitting. Knox Cortez was always a bit of an enigma to us, he is brutal, cold, and somewhat disturbing. So yeah, we weren’t quite sure what to expect! If at all possible, this installment is even darker and more vividly violent than what’s come before and we’re not going to lie, we wanted to look away a few times, take a breath, but we simply couldn’t stop. These Authors have nailed this trope and the writing backs up our claim completely! So pick this series up if you love dark romance with unapologetic anti-heroes!
‘He’s done despicable things. He’s taken things from me that will forever be lost, and I doubt I’ll ever be whole again because of it. But, the little whispers between us and the held-too-long gazes argue a different story. They tell me he’s with me and feeling everything I am.’
As always, the Authors make no apologies for their anti-heroes in this series, and so they shouldn’t. These are men who make no excuses for who they are. They are cold and calculating, they compartmentalise and they move through life in extremes. When their hearts fall though they fall hard, extremely hard! We absolutely love this about them and Knox was no different. He intrigued us, he compelled us and he’s become one of our new favourites, who would’ve thought, the scene on the bench nailed it for us! Peyton had no idea what she was getting herself into but she was amazing, her strength, brightness and perseverance. She had guts and determination.
‘A heart I thought untouchable, near dead in its villainous logic, has been breached.’
It’s quite the feat to write a story such as this with a hero that should completely freak you out, yet whilst it's intensely dark, the romance aspect is once again absolutely beautiful in its own effed-up way. The moments of romance, the romantic gestures if you will are all there, they’re just slightly barbed, sharp, and bent out of shape. The epilogue…we have to mention it, it was fabulous! We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again because a brilliant epilogue is what makes a good book into a great book. This series must be read in the order in which they are released.
‘She’s a breath I never knew I needed, and she’s the space I never knew I craved.’
I could have read this story in one sitting - I usually do when it comes to reading a book written by Hart De Lune - however, I wasn’t far into the story before I realised that I needed to slow down and savour every moment of this narrative. What made me feel this way? There are a few possibilities. Was it Knox’s interest in Peyton? Maybe Peyton’s family situation and her innocence? Or perhaps the couple’s intelligence because in all honesty, that is a trait in people that I love. In this instance I do think it was a combination of all three. I absolutely loved Knox and Peyton’s initial interactions, and then, as their story unfolded, I found myself eager to learn their thoughts (particularly Peyton’s) especially surrounding the situations that they found themselves in. Essentially, there is a lot I love about this couple and I didn’t want to overlook one single thing.
There is a warning at the beginning of When Sinners Fear which is written for a reason. Knowing what the Cortez family do for a living took my thoughts and expectations of its reference in a certain direction which may or may not have been the wisest thing to do. This is a dark romance story. There are scenes that are not easy to read yet, as always, the authors penned them brilliantly. It wasn’t the actions that got to me but more the thoughts and interactions between those involved, and that’s why I needed to go slow and not miss a moment.
I loved getting to know Peyton. Her thoughts and feelings are written perfectly, and for such a young woman going through so much, she showed great strength and determination. What about these Cortez men? I know who they are and I know what they do. I also am aware of what my feelings towards them should be however, there is something about each and every one of them and all I can say is that how I perceive I should feel about them flies out of the window once I truly get to know them.
House of Skin is a series that I’d recommend be read in release order. It’s not necessary to have read either previous series by Hart De Lune but if, like me, you have been with these authors since the beginning you will recognise some favourites of mine in this book, and I loved that I knew exactly what and who they were referring to.
When Sinners Fear is told via the POVs of both Knox and Peyton, and once again I refer back to the incredible experience of learning and understanding their thoughts. Their actions are equally as compelling to witness. If you enjoy your romance on the darker side then this series is perfect for you. Go into these stories blind is my advice, I know you won’t be disappointed. I'm anticipating that there is more from the Cortez family to come and I cannot wait to discover what happens next. My mind is buzzing with the possibilities - I cannot wait!

When Sinners Fear is the 4th book in the House of Skin series, this is also the book I have been waiting for. Knox Cortez and all his layers which are all peeled back through this story!.
As will all the other books in the series, I knew reading it was going to be tough, addicting and hard to put down. But my expectations were blown away. It is beyond dark, it is cruel, tragic and devastating. Knox is brutal man with no heart, Peyton is pure and intelligent and their individual love of science, math and logic makes for interesting reading, given their worlds are total opposites.
Home to help care for her mother, Peyton is already going through her own heartache, and has had to temporarily leave the life she loves. She also finds herself the interest of Knox Cortez, one that puts her life in danger and eventually implodes her world. Knox is torn by wanting to make sure Peyton heals and tries his hardest to stay away, thinking it would be best and also make the guilt he feels easier to live with.
My heart broke beyond measure at the cruel depravity of their story, but there were also times where there was softness. Hart De Lune does dark romance to the extreme and makes no apologies for it, and neither should they, it comes with trigger warnings for a reason. The genius in the duo’s writing shines through, and when every shred of morality is tested, you still find yourself wanting a happy ending for Knox and Peyton together. Even with all I have read, I still found myself seeing the good sides to the bad people. Family is everything to the Cortez’s, and when they love, they love hard and without boundaries, but can two damaged hearts and souls find their happiness together?
I didn’t want it to end, all it did was leave me wanting MORE!!!!!!!!
Buckle up and get ready for the ride. Charlotte and Rachel you have done it again. Congratulations this is another edition to the 5* review list.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie's Book Reports.
This is a dark romance. You will want to heed the warnings in the beginning of the book. I could not wait to dive into this book and it did not disappoint. If you know anything about the Cortez family then you know that they are brutal and nothing ever comes easy. This is the story of Peyton and Knox story. At times it is brutal to read so you need to buckle up for that. But I can say that I didn't lay this book down unless I absolutely had to. These two will have your heart breaking with what they have to endure. It is horrific and brutal and a total nightmare. Knox could be described as someone who is unfeeling. But the man is a master of keeping his emotions concealed. However we get to peel back the layers of Knox and he is probably my favorite Cortez brother. Peyton is one strong female character. Though, she is so sweet and innocent Really really smart and naive at times. This is a great book. I have loved every book in this series. But there was just something about this book that makes it my favorite.
This is the 4th book in the House of Skin series, following the Cortez family, this is Knox and Peyton's book and OMG what a book, when you think the last one was good, this one tops all of them. I love Knox and Peyton and their story. The whole series is dark but brilliant.
Peyton... is a sweet and innocent young woman, her studies were the only thing important in her life, until one Sunday while at church she met Knox, nothing in her life would be the same ever again.
Knox...Brutal, evil, dangerous with no compassion, and very intelligent, but you can't help but love him. He thought taking Peyton out would be fun and take her innocence and move on, that's where all the trouble and pain started.
There is so much to say about this book, the dark, the brutal and the light, and I have to say Knox is now my firm favourite, but I just can't give any spoilers, it's a book you have to read and savour for yourself, I would recommend reading this series in order so you get the back stories of the other family members.
Knox appears to be a more calm and reserved person, more so than the rest of his clan. Peyton is most definitely quiet and reserved especially with the way she is brought up. Compared to the rest of his family,
It is admirable how much care Knox gives Peyton throughout the entire novel. She is the only one who gets to see a side of him that the others do not. However, she also gets to see the rest of his life, which is something she shouldn't have to experience.
She becomes stronger than she ever imagined she needed to be as a result of the tragedy they are forced to experience together. With it, she begins to fall a little deeper in love with the monster that is Knox.
After spending time together, Peyton more or less understands that, despite being protected, her previous small world was uninteresting. Despite her newly acquired obligations, her new life is sure to be entertaining.
I was upset the book ended. I feel that Knox needs another book because there is so much story with these two.
This story is well written and is a great addition to the series but I will say read the trigger warning before beginning this journey. Knox is a member of a family that traffics women. Payton is a devoted innocent young woman who is very involved with her family. For some odd reason they are attracted to one another. Knox gets Payton to go on a date which for him is unheard of. They actually enjoy each other’s company. Unfortunately things go horribly wrong for them and Knox is forced to hurt her. Payton shows her inner strength and understanding as this goes on. This story goes through many different changes with these characters and the scene which Payton is hurt was difficult for me to read but the emotional healing she goes through felt so genuine. Knox’s reactions fit so well and the way their relationship develops was very well written. Charlotte E Hart and Rachel DeLune are masterful when it comes to dark romance!
Peyton is studying science in California and it's her life until her mother gets sick and she has to return home to help her father out with her care. She meets Knox Cortez of all people one Sunday at church, and she catches his attention. His intentions with her are not honorable and when he takes her out on their second date their lives take a terrible turn and things will never be the same for Peyton again. The Cortez family has taken something Reed wants, and people are going to suffer. I received an arc for my honest voluntary review for NN Book Blog. If you love your romances deep, dark, and brutal, you will enjoy this book. Although this is Book Four in the House of Skin Series it is able to be read as a stand-alone. There are a lot of triggers for people in this book so heed the author's warnings.
Oh Knoxy boy how I love you and you're brooding evil beneath your sharp suit and good looks! This is now my favourite of the House of Skin books and I never thought Able would be knocked off top spot. I think I held my breath for the majority of this book, anticipating what level of angst would come next. The highest and absolutely most delicious kind. Charlotte & Rachel have done it again with this unapologetic family of bad men and women. It had me hooked from the first page and I could not put it down. Yes, there are parts which push you out of your comfort zone, as in every book in this series, but so good is the writing you don't realise how comfortable you've become with it until it's too late. Can't wait for the next book, but honestly, I'm not certain that Shaw will be able to replace Knox as my favourite Cortez brother.
Hart de Lune have written a series finale that really left me breathless and desperate to know what was going to happen next. This was the hardest of the four books to read. Knox is awful. He should not have had any redeeming qualities, nor should he have been likeable in any way, shape or form. But I found that as the book went on, he really grew on me and that as he changed, he became much more of a man any woman would be happy to call hers. Peyton was an absolute gem! She was lovely but somewhat put-upon by her family as she came home to look after her ailing mother. Meeting Knox was not something that should have happened. She was totally alien to his world. And courtesy of him, her life would never be the same again. Fabulous dark, dark read!!!
This is book 4 in the house of skin series, and each book keeps getting better and better. This book focuses on Knox & Peyton, Peyton is the good girl from a church going family who studies hard, coming home to help care for her mother. Once she is introduced to Knox, well, all things change, though is it for the better? Knox is the worst of the worst. Really, she could not have met a more cruel man. This book is dark and violent and full of twists that you don't see coming, it's is not for the faint of heart. However, that said, this book by far is my favourite from the series. A powerful writing duo who knows what they will come up with next, but whatever it is, I'm there. A highly recommended read absolutely loved it
Oh, so very good and dark. When Sinners Fear is the fourth book in the House of Skin series. These two authors were the masterminds behind this series. This is Knox Cortez and Peyton’s story. OMG this book is a dark one. Possibly the darkest and most twisted in this series. I don’t know what it says about me that I really enjoyed the book and could barely put it down.
I sure hope there are more stories in this series!!! I love it when these 2 Hart & De Lune get together to write. I know it will be something GOOD!
#0.5 Darker Shades - Jackson Reed and Naja Cortez #1 When Sinners Fall - Dante Cortez and Wren Campbell #2 When Sinners Hate - Abel Cortez and Lexi Ortega #3 When Sinners Dare - Mariana Cortez and Kai Jensen #4 When Sinners Fear - Knox Cortez and Peyton
Ive become really invested in the Cortez family over the last few weeks reading each and every story and this one was definitely one of my favs. What Peyton and Knox went through together was just heart breaking and uplifting all at the same time! My heart broke for them at parts and it had pure joy at others... if these guys hadnt got their HEA i would have cried for days LOL Im not going to lie.. i kinda hate that i love them all so much considering what they do for a living but nothing can make me not enjoy the stories of these baddies! Look forward to book 5 in time. *read as part of KU*
A poetry quoting, violent, cruel mafiosi that traffic’s women would seem to be an oxymoron. Knox Cortez is all of that but the right woman brings out his protective and loving side, he even smiles and laughs on occasion. Peyton is an innocent, brilliant PhD student who puts her life on hold to care for her dying mother and then meets Knox at church if all places. This is an extremely dark, violent, cruel and at times horrifying story, but it will consume you, fascinate you and you will not be able to put it down and the epilogue will restore your faith in humanity. I loved it.
What a freaking rollercoaster! Too bad this was the conclusion of a mastepiece series. Super Dark, and what a ride! I should be used to how insane the Cortez family gets, but hell, this amazing writing Duo manages to surprise me all the freaking time. Payton and Knox are sublime, as is their story! Am I beating around the bustling? Yes, I am. Why? Because if I start talking about this story, it wouldn't be spoiler free and wouldn't be fair. Get your book!
The House of Skin once again delivers! Knox is all about numbers and truths. He's not like his brothers, even though they are all in a morally gray area when it comes to their work. Peyton intrigues Knox, but are they able to overcome their obstacles to find happiness? I loved the brutally dark moments as much as the witty banter and the emotional roller coaster ride that these two characters take us on! And that epologue was amazing! Thumbs up for this book and also for the entire series!
I love this story. The authors that written this series has gotten me hooked from the very first page of this series. This story flows and blends together and brings the stories together. This is a very dark read that has TW so read them before you dive into this book.
I’ve become so invested in the characters I was quite sad to read the struggles in the beginning but this ended up being a real good conclusion and portrayal of emotions. Really enjoyed how realistic this felt. Cannot wait for the next instalment
Completely enthralling. Retribution, angst, betrayal, love and maybe just maybe the promise of more This writing duo have yet again spoilt us readers with the Cortez crew
