The life story of Scott Field is certainly one worth telling, as he was an intriguing individual who trod his own path to achieve a variety of individual goals. In this book his former coach and friend, Merv Keane, provides a good summary of the young footballer before intellectual pursuits took him interstate and overseas, and then follows in Field’s footsteps to better understand the man he had become before his tragic death on Mont Blanc. Nicely written and presented, Keane provides informed insight into someone who pursued his interests with great determination, skill and enterprise.
