The amount of research poured into this book is incredible. I don't think casual fans have any idea how much MS heft there is in the football world. The book is well organized, with sections for high school, JUCO, college, and pro and individual articles on players and coaches and games. The articles are not lengthy, so it makes the book easy to read in small doses. I did find the pro section dragged, but that is absolutely because I am just not as interested in that segment of football. This is a fantastic read for those with ties to MS or those who just love football.
This is an incredible in-depth look at Mississippi football from the high school ranks through the pros. This is a must read for football fans in the Magnolia State.
Clearly a topic of niche subject matter, but I loved reading this collection of stories from Mississippi high school, JUCO, and college football. There are profiles of players, coaches, and individual games, each well-written by Rick Cleveland (who has been writing about sports in this state longer than I have lived here) with an assist from Neil White. Spliced between these stories are stats and stats and stats...and some great pictures, many of which I had never seen. Loved it.
