The tropical atmosphere of the Florida Keys and the watery world of the Everglades are perfect places to get away from it all. Hidden Florida Keys and Everglades reveals the area's quirky personality, from fascinating glass-bottomed boat tours to the best place to buy pink plastic flamingos. This guide leads to the real flavor of the Keys, with reviews of 70 restaurants that serve fresh seafood and Key lime prepared any way you want, including pie, ice cream, and even Key lime butter. A virtual tropical-plant and flower-lover's guide, this book features 95 nature hikes and botanical gardens. It covers both popular and less well-known spots, with descriptive listings of romantic island inns, waterfront restaurants, winding canoe trails, and technicolor coral reefs. Nightlife listings tell where to find the ideal party, music, or club, and the numerous hotel suggestions will steer the weary traveler to the perfect place to finally relax and rest up for the next day's journey. Like each title in the Hidden series, this guide offers readers the comfort of detailed maps, Internet information for each listing, suggested itineraries, and walking and driving tours.
The Florida Everglades is the top on my son's list as a birding location. I decided to read this book to see what travel in the area would be like. I learned a lot and feel excited about the location for viewing wildlife and possibly doing some snorkeling. Seems like a good travel guide to me. If we go, I'll buy a copy of the newer edition and do some highlighting prior to the trip.
we found some good things to do and some great restaurant recommendations, but mostly, we're just going to relax. No guide book needed for that part. That comes naturally to us.
