Flirting with Darkness

Rate this book
In a realm scarred by magic and secrets, my bonds may be the only thing that can save us. I'm Lyra, the crown princess of Crystal Elementia. In a world guided by duty and decorum, my destiny is irrevocably linked to the wild force of magic within me—making me both an invaluable asset and a potential threat. As I navigate a landscape rife with treacherous alliances and buried secrets, three men emerge—Alistair, the dutiful royal guardian; Darius, the sensual King of Shadows; and Rook, a prisoner whose history is as mysterious as his future. Caught in a whirlwind of romantic intrigues and emotional entanglements, the distinctions between love and loyalty, friend and foe, become dangerously blurred. And in a realm still marred by the remnants of a magical cataclysm, my choices are as precarious as my affections. If I can't navigate the maze of love and duty, the price might be more than just a broken heart. FLIRTING WITH DARKNESS is the first steamy installment in the Broken Fae Promises slow-burn fantasy romance trilogy. In a world where love defies expectations, loyalties are tested, and destiny is a tangled web, will Lyra and her men uncover the truth in time to save her kingdom?

This book is part of a series and ends in a cliffhanger. Best suited for ages 18+

Initially, I am incredibly unsure about this book. I felt extremely confused whilst reading this and it was like I was missing things from the plot, which just weren't told.

This book followed Lyra, a princess, who is the daughter of a corrupt king. Consequently, this book entailed on the start of her journey to save her land, with multiple other males.

Now onto the things I didn't understand, the entire getting the artifacts felt rushed and I don't even know where it came from. The ending really did interest me, but I'm incredibly lost with all the plot holes. Things are said, and never touched upon again.

However, the writer did make quite interesting characters and I will be reading the second book, hopefully I will finally understand everything.

Twisty tale

Lyra's story is full of intrigue and plot twists. Love will not be easy for her and her mates. I can't wait to see who all her mates end up being. The story could have moved a little faster but I still think it was worth the time. The second book should be exciting. I received an advanced reader copy of this book for my honest review.

This is a good start to what should be an interesting set of books! The beginning is slow, I did sorta have to force myself to bare with it but I’m glad I did, I love the plot twists and I can’t wait to find out who all her mates are! Definitely worth a read!

This is a great start to a new series that has drama, action, adventure, and chemistry. The MCs are defined, determined, likable, and engaging. I found this book to be entertaining, engaging, and enjoyable. I voluntarily read an ARC and this is my honest review.

I am a sucker for a gorgeous cover but the story was also GREAT! Wickedly dark romance with fantasy and paranormal elements. I couldn’t get enough and will read the next book!

Interesting

It might have been my mood but I couldn't get invested in this story. I like the way she describes the characters and their feelings. But the FMC is very similar to the one in Tempest Awakening. Both have tragically lost a father, and have an abusive, evil mother. I would have preferred more differences between them.

Honestly, I could not get into it. I read about little under half of the book and then gave up and DNF’d. The reading level seemed low and simplistic. I thought character development was lacking. Spice level 🌶️

While the read kept my interest it felt slower paced at times which isn’t my favorite. Overall a good read and I will be reading the next
