I’m personally very fond of crime, especially for crimes that can be justified. Theft is a crime, but you can definitely justify stealing from Nazis. Nazis are bad, and this book acknowledges that. Great read.
This book was really fascinating me and kept me hooked till the end every page was an page turner I really loved this book a lot. This story was narrated in an deaths perspective which was an added flavour to this. The part where the death comes and narrates something that was just wow!! The main characters are Liesel meminger and her foster parents and a jew. I loved Liesel's dad huberman he was a very kind person and who was not into that trap of Hitler's.This story is based on world war 2 during the invasion of Poland and the march of Jews in the roads. This was really a good story and I enjoyed markus zusak's fabulous work.!!!!!
At first I found it very tedious and boring, but once in the book I was hooked! I couldn't put the book down for days, it especially helped me broaden my knowledge of Nazi Germany.
I liked how it was a mature book in the sense that it dealt with a lot of stuff that kids my age don't often hear about. Also the way it was written was a cool way to do it.
The book ‘Book Thief’ is about a novelist Markus Zusak, an Australian novelist who won several awards. The book is narrated by Death, who describes beauty and destruction of life. The story takes place in a fictional town called Molching, Germany, between 1939 and 1943. The story is narrated by death, narrating Liesel Meminger, who is nine years old, suffering from the death of her loved ones. She is then moved to live with Hans and ROsa Hubermann in Molching. Liesel perceives that she is powerless without literacy; reading. On that account, Hans teaches her how to read in the basement with a book she got from her dead brother : The Grave Digger’s Handbook. Books become a source of comfort that she can carry on with her. As the story goes through, Liesel also realizes that words can take her mother and brother away, and Max to hide in the basement in order to survive from the war. She manages to survive from the sufferings of Hitler using the words for horrific and violent acts by words even she sometimes finds out that she could be without them.
As I read through, I caught that the story is set on a war, which can stand as one of the theme of this book. The readers might have a controverse opinion towards the war, which some might think that it is a way for halting Hitler from overstriding other countries and ruling the world ; on the other hand, some might think that it is not an alternative way for halting Hitler and the Nazis. Another main theme that could be seen in this book was love. I indicated that the narrator tried to inform the audiences that ‘love’ is a necessity and crucial thing that nothing can stand against it. For instance, from the scene Hans helping Liesel to read, the kindness or love, gaining her the power for hope and chance to stand against Nazis to regain their country back.
One of the most beautifully written books I have had the joy of reading in years. The characters were brought to life, or should I say brought to death. Poetry, Genau die richtige Menge von deutschen Wörtern, to keep the reader interested.
The reader got laughs and tears in the same book, plus a story that may never age. This is a book I would highly recommend to almost any reader.
I personally loved this book. i first found out about it when i saw the movie and heard it was first a book, so i was curios and picked up a copy. This has easily become one of my most favorite books ever. This book made me fell so many different emotions. I felt like i was truly there along side the characters on their journey. I recommend this book to anyone who is in to historical fiction.
This book was beautiful, it will be a classic for years to come, it made me realise that I should treasure the small things in life not take them for granted. I loved it.
