About the author

Born Mary Clarissa Gillington but writing as May Byron and using MC Gillington and Maurice Clare as pseudonyms, she wrote over 100 books of poetry, biography plus a number of cook books.

She married George Frederick Byron and the couple had two sons.

Her most well-known works were in the series Days with Great Writers and Days with Great Composers - most of which, if not all - were written under the May Byron name. Her and her sister also had a book of poems published and she also had a great number of poems published in newspapers and magazines.
