It’s Christmas in Dublin - the festive lights are on, shops are stacked with shiny things, it’s pouring with rain, and there are three furious drag queens and one divinely handsome drag king storming the gates of TRASH, the city’s third-rate drag club. When Carol Singer, the visiting Welsh performer, is brutally murdered in the middle of the stage, Fi and her friends, Mae B, Del, Miss Merkin, Thora Point and Stan the Man, must stop feuding and work together to unmask the pantomime villain before another queen falls. The tinsel lines have been drawn but as Fi’s own world crashes around her, time is running out for everyone. Camp, dark, and brutally murdery, DEATH IN THE HOLIDAYS goes to places other mysteries just wouldn’t backstage!
The Dublin Drag Mysteries are the cutest, campest reads. I can't wait for the next one. If you're looking for some lighthearted and well-written escapism, look no further!
My favourite of the series so far with more insights into the various characters and a very convoluted murder scenario. Can't wait for the next in the series. As someone who loves Dublin, I also like this portrayal of some of the seedier elements of this lovely city.
I don't even know what to say now on book 3, except Kitty Murphy really knows what she's doing, and I love this series so bloody much. But girl, what the hell is that ending??
Kitty Murphy's writing really wraps you into the Dublin atmosphere, with so many little immersive details it feels like you're truly there. And the gang is delightful as usual, with so much drama but still so much love at the heart of it. And now, with a cliffhanger ending, and some tension in the romance, I couldn't be happier that book 4 is on the horizon.
This book was intense, but it felt like the climax of the story was a bit rushed. There were several mystery threads, and it felt like the last couple were either ignored or rushed. The big murder mystery component was well developed and somewhat complex, but also, strangely, the resolution felt a triffle predictable.
