David Winter’s book is like a Living Bible version of some great thoughts from Early Church Christians like Ignatius, Irenaeus, Augustine, Athanasius and Polycarp.
He has recast some of their most famous passages in contemporary English.
I thought I had lost my copy, but found it today. Hooray, because it is out of print, but a few second hand stores seem to have copies.
