I loved this little book. It is the perfect read for any child, parent or grandparent.
This is the Bear is a little story about a young boy whose favorite stuffed bear goes missing after the boy's dog throws the bear in a garbage bin, and the ensuing search and rescue of said little stuffed bear who is eventually found after a search of the local dump.
I first read THIS IS THE BEAR to my own children almost 30 years ago, and I can still remember every word....
'This is the bear who fell in the bin....'
'This is the dog who pushed him in...'
The rhyme scheme is simple; the words are easy to understand.
This book is appropriate for ages 3 to 6 in early childhood classrooms. The book “This is the bear” talks about “the bear who fell in the bin. A dog pushed him in. A man picked up the sack. The bear went to the dump and fell on the pile with a bit of a bump. The boy took the bus and went to the dump to make a fuss. He searched the dump and the dog smelled. Finally, they found bear in the local bump. The boy, bear, and the dog go home together. I like this book because it provides many cute pictures of bear, boy, and the dog. When children listen to this story, they will imagine what is going to happen next when the boy and dog search and rescue of the little stuffed bear. This story will probably make children laugh and feel funny.
I read 'This is the Bear' as part of my goal to read all 1001 Childrens books you should read befor you grow up.
I read this with my 3year old and we laughed and laughed. The story is simple and rhyming. There are a few words that need to be explained, but the pictures are really funny. There should be more children's books about garbage dumps.
