Introduction to Statistical Methods , third edition, is a calculus based statistics hybrid book that provides an overview of descriptive and inferential methods including probability distributions, estimation, hypothesis testing, ANOVA, nonparametric procedures, and regression. The book addresses how to analyze both continuous and categorical data with examples containing simulated data. The students’ understanding of the material develops sequentially through the textbook so that ultimately the student is able to anticipate the methodology and apply that knowledge to obtain the solution, with an emphasis on interpretations, concepts, assumptions, and fallacies. This format ensures that the student is an active and engaged participant in class. This textbook provides many opportunities for the students to check and verify their understanding of the material. The textbook coupled with the Power-Point slides provides the student with all the information necessary to learn statistical concepts and methodology.
