About the author

Franco Casavola, sometimes Francesco (Modugno, July 13, 1891 – Bari, July 7, 1955) was an Italian composer, art critic and writer of the Futurist movement.

Since his childhood, Franco showed talent for music, but his interest was not supported by his family. After his studies he lived in a bohemian attitude and became destressed by bourgeoise life. In 1913 he moved to Rome where he get in touch with the avant-garde scene.

Along with Giuseppe Mulè he became one of the most prominent figures of Futurist music and of the Apulian Futurism. He wrote the "Manifesto sul Futurismo musicale in Puglia" presented with Filippo Tommaso Marinetti at Petruzzelli theatre of Bari.

He fought in both World Wars but during WWII he promoted mainly dramatic theatre and became adversive to futurism movent. He died in 1955.
