The Brooklyn Museum has one of the greatest collections of Egyptian Art in the United States. This book highlights 100 objects from the collection that span ancient Egyptian history from the predynastic to the Roman period. Accompanying each photograph is text that describes the object and provides appropriate historical and cultural context.
The museum's collection is superb and the objects selected for publication are certainly worthy. The descriptions, though, often seem dated. That's understandable given that the book was published in 1989.
The book also includes a brief but useful history of the collection.
Given the quality of the Brooklyn collection, a more recent survey would be most welcome.
