It is a story mixed with ups and downs, euphoria and the depths of despair. It is set in a different, simpler time than that of our current scientifically based society. It is a simpler time with less tools of science available to accomplish the task of capturing this madman. It asks the question, tacitly, whether a serial killer can become from rather simple circumstances without being a complete sociopathic monster.

Dan O' Rourke is a sick and demented man and this is his story. It is also the story of the police department who finally captured the man and of those related to the officers who lived through the tragedy and horrendous horror caused by this serial killer. The author does an amazing job with police procedure in this novel that could easily be non-fiction and maybe it is. What causes a serial killer? What keeps those hunting him keep going even when they hit dead ends? These are exactly the questions this amazing author brings to readers in this suspense thriller of murder and its aftermath. I am a fan of this author's writing style and the way he brings incredibly accurate facts into the books I have been blessed to read.
