While I’m positive Slimeville isn’t a real place, I enjoyed the realism of the town and its inhabitants.

This kind of put me in the mind of the Netflix show “First Kill” with the teenagers, magic, creatures, and family dynamic.

The storyline! I loved the storyline. It was cute without being cringey, and each character has a distinct voice and personality. The “mystery” they were trying to piece together was put together very well and made you want to know more in each chapter what was going to happen.

Now, why the three star rating. This book could use another round of edits… there were several contradictions, misspelled or missing words, and at times, I had to flip back and forth to confirm/remind myself of certain things because of the confusion with certain scenarios. And because it takes a minute to seeing the actual magic stuff take place. The magic imagery could use some work, but as a new author, who does know how to nail a good storyline, I know she’ll pick it up as she continues to grow. ❤️

I wish I could have given this a 3.5 rather than 3. Because it genuinely is a good read.

Overall I genuinely enjoyed the storyline and the authenticity of the black characters. I will definitely read another book from this author. I’m looking forward to this author’s voice continuing to mature as she grows in her writing.
