Bart vs. My Hopes & Dreams: Looking Back at Thirty Years of Video Games Based on The Simpsons

Rate this book
Twenty-five games, thirty years, over eighty ports—whatever the number, there've been a heck of a lot of games based on The Simpsons. The story of the animated sitcom that tried to make it in video games is a long and sordid tale, now collected here in the unauthorized retrospective for your reading pleasure.

Originally written in 2019-2020, Bart vs. My Hopes & Dreams is the culmination of nearly two decades of fan obsession by a man who wouldn't let Simpsons video games fumble gently into that good night. With detailed critiques from a longtime writer and game industry veteran, as well as collected insights from the original creators, this is the most complete look at every Simpsons video game ever made.

An excellent and informative retrospective on Simpsons video games. I read this because I got it with a bundle on itch.io, and you know it's good when it can entertain me, who has seen 0 episodes of The Simpsons and only has vague memories of watching my dad play Road Rage.

A lovely, nostalgic look back on Simpsons' video games that feels like a friend recounting the games rather than a cold, historical document.
